LastPass for Android gets Material Design overhaul, is included in Galaxy S6 Gifts

LastPass is one of the most used password storage services, and today it’s unveiled a very big update for its Android app. Along with that, we also get news that LastPass is now part of Samsung’s Galaxy Gifts program for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

Moto 360 gets cheaper as Apple Watch pre-orders start

Sure, this could simply be a coincidence, but on the day that marks the start of pre-orders for the much anticipated Apple Watch the Moto 360 has been discounted at two big retailers. Motorola’s first wearable is one of the Apple Watch competitors running Android Wear.

Google’s new Chromebook Pixel arrives in the UK on April 21

Google made the new version of its Chromebook Pixel laptop official last month, but only for the US. Today though it was time for the company to announce availability for the UK.

So if you’re in the UK and have been craving a new Pixel, you can now mark April 21 in your calendar. That’s when the device will make its debut across the pond. Microsoft releases Office Remote for Android app

Microsoft is actively expanding its reach on rival mobile platforms, especially Android. The software giant has added yet another feather to its app hat by releasing the Office Remote for Android app.

New report details Google’s progress in getting Android Wear to support iOS

As Apple is set to start taking pre-orders for its first ever smartwatch tomorrow, Google is once again said to be working on making its wearable platform play nice with iOS. We first heard something like this about one month ago, and this new report even has some details about Google’s progress on the matter.

Apparently Android Wear already works with iOS in Google’s labs, through a companion app. That’s nothing out of the ordinary, since the same path is taken on Android itself. Dropbox integration with Microsoft Office Online is now available

Last year, Microsoft and Dropbox announced a partnership meant to lead to tight integration between the cloud storage service and the software giant’s Office suite. This went live for mobile apps shortly afterwards, but only today has it been launched for Office Online.

You can now edit any Word, PowerPoint, or Excel file in Dropbox in your Web browser. All the changes you make will automatically be saved to your Dropbox. So you can now work on the documents you have stored in your Dropbox even without having the offline Office apps installed on your computer. Read more »

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 are $100 cheaper for a limited time

Samsung has decided to shave a cool $100 off the prices of both Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab S models. This is only valid for the US, and you can only take advantage of the deal if you buy either tablet from Samsung’s own official online store. Furthermore, the offer is only available until April 11.

So you have just under two days to purchase a cheaper Galaxy Tab S 8.4 or Galaxy Tab S 10.5. With the discount applied, the former now costs $299.99, while the latter is priced at $399.99. Read more »

Tesco sends a Galaxy S6 unit in space to celebrate launch

Tesco was keen to mark the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with as much bang as possible and went all out sending a unit into space. Tied to a special space balloon, the smartphone is accompanied by a trio of GoPro cameras monitoring its every move.

Launched from an undisclosed location within UK’s Peak District national park, the balloon soared 32.5km to the edge of space surviving 160km/h winds and temperatures as low as -57 degrees Celsius. Read more »

Canon announces XC10 4K digital camcorder

Canon has announced a new camcorder with 4K internal video recording. Called the XC10, the new camera is aimed at beginners and semi-professionals who would want to upgrade to shooting 4K video without spending the big bucks for it.

The XC10 has a 1-inch type, 12 megapixel CMOS sensor for shooting videos and stills. The camera has a fixed wide angle optically stabilized lens with 10x optical zoom. It has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24.1-241 mm for stills and 27.3-273 mm for videos with a variable f2.8-5.6 aperture. Read more »

Canon announces EOS C300 Mark II Digital Cinema Camera

Canon has announced the latest flagship member of its cinema line of EOS cameras. The C300 Mark II has a new super 35mm sensor and 4K internal recording and 15-stop wide dynamic range.

The C300 Mark II has a new 8.85 megapixel super 35mm CMOS sensor coupled with Dual DIGIC DV 5 image processor. Canon has also developed a new XF-AVC codec that allows recording 10-bit 4:2:2 4K image internally without having to rely on an external recorder. The sensor is capable of shooting up to ISO 102,400 and sensor readout has been sped up by two times over the previous one to reduce rolling shutter distortion. Read more »
