LastPass for Android gets Material Design overhaul, is included in Galaxy S6 Gifts

LastPass is one of the most used password storage services, and today it’s unveiled a very big update for its Android app. Along with that, we also get news that LastPass is now part of Samsung’s Galaxy Gifts program for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

These two smartphones just became available today, and if you buy either one you’ll be happy to know that you get an upgrade to LastPass Premium for free. Normally that costs $12 per year.

To receive this free upgrade, head over to the Galaxy Apps store on your S6 or S6 edge, go to the Galaxy Gifts section, and redeem your LastPass Premium credit.

Even if you don’t buy Samsung’s latest and greatest, you can still take advantage of the much improved user experience that debuts with the latest version of LastPass for Android. The app now adheres to Google’s Material Design guidelines, complete with a floating action button in the lower-right corner. The color palette is simpler, there’s more white space, and the usual bug fixes and performance improvements are in too.

The menus have been condensed and simplified and the main navigation now resides in the swipeable left drawer, to be consistent with the way Android apps do things nowadays. The app’s Settings have been reorganized as well, simplifying access to the most important security options.

The new version of the app goes to the vault first, unless you were using the browser when you last closed it. LastPass for Android is available in the Google Play Store.
