Canon just announced two new members of the PowerShot line of digital cameras – the SX500 IS and the SX160 IS. Both feature 16 MP 1/2.3″ CCD sensors and Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor.
The S160 IS is the successor to the SX150 IS, while the SX500 IS is a totally new package. The duo is expected to hit the market this September for $329.99 (SX500 IS) and $229.99 (SX160 IS). Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 LTE in South Korea is getting updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the update brings along a number of goodies. Up until now, the Super AMOLED-packing tablet was running Android 3.2.
The update brings the usual round of performance improvements, better multitasking and face unlock. Also, the native data tracker feature are a welcome update to keep track of that LTE data usage. Read more »

avast! Mobile Security application for Android has received a major update in version 2.0 and now includes a very useful feature in the form of anti-theft protection. This features were initially found in the beta version but are now part of the main app. With the help of this feature, you will be able to locate your phone on a map and will also be able to use other commands such as remotely trigger a siren, remote lock and even remote wipe using the excellent web portal.
The application is also smart enough to send a message whenever it detects that the SIM has been swapped. This way, if someone steals your phone and swaps the SIM, you will be able to locate the phone on a map and also have the mobile number of the perpetrator, thus making it easier to find your phone. With its shares’ price going past the $660 mark today, Apple reached a market capitalization of over $620 billion, thus becoming the most valuable company ever. The Cupertino based behemoth has taken the title from its rival Microsoft, which at one point was valued at $618.9 billion.
With the next generation iPhone and another iPad model lurking around the corner, we can reasonably expect Apple’s market capitalization to reach even bigger heights. Read more »
PopCap Games, the popular game developer and now an EA-owned company, has announced today that we’re in for a sequel of Plants Vs. Zombies, coming in late spring next year.
PvZ is one of the best known mobile games on Android and iOS (among others) and probably the most popular lane tower defense game ever. Its gameplay revolves around fending off hordes of hilariously quirky, awkward-dressed, zombies with a large selection of sharp-shooting plants. Read more »
The iFixit guys have no mercy – the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 couldn’t even go a week before being torn to pieces for the greater good. It didn’t put up much of a fight (and that’s a good thing) as there are only a few Philips screws and clips standing in your way when you need to open the tablet.
From then on things are pretty easy to detach. There are some oddities (the vibration motor is hooked up to the microSD card slot assembly), but the front and back cameras are separate components, so you can swap them out one at a time. Read more »

We recently reported that Google has quietly added support for gift cards in the latest version of the Play Store application for Android but the feature has not been enabled or announced yet. That’s because they gift cards themselves aren’t available yet.
Well, it seems that’s about to change soon, as a leaked image from Target is confirming that the Play Store gift cards could be hitting their shelves as early as August 26. Read more »
