Face-to-face meet-up with the Sony Xperia miro

Sony brought so many new smartphones to IFA that we almost forgot about the Xperia miro. Almost. The handset was announced back in June and is expected to hit the market next month, but it was showcased at the company’s booth.

Specs-wise, the Xperia miro has lots of common internals with the Xperia tipo but offers two major upgrades – a 0.3″ bigger LED-backlit LCD screen and a 5 megapixel snapper. Thanks to the LED-backlit upgrade, the phone is also thinner and lighter. Read more »

Here at IFA, we managed to swing by the Sony booth to spend some more quality time with the new Xperia devices. While around, we snapped some sample pics with the Sony Xperia TX for your viewing pleasure.

Samsung Galaxy Camera hands-on videos are ready, check them out

The Samsung Galaxy Camera sure attracted a lot of attention, ours included. We got a chance to spend some quality time with the device and we did a couple of videos to give you a better how this new camera looks and feels.

Samsung has based most of the Galaxy Camera software on the Galaxy S III’s, but the camera interface is a bespoke solution. The menus heavily rely on spinners, which make them easy to use with your thumb – good thing since you don’t get any hardware controls on the back, you use the 4.8″ touchscreen for almost everything. James Bond will use the Sony Xperia T in the upcoming Skyfall movie

At yesterday’s pre-IFA press conference, Sony mentioned that its new Android flagship – the Xperia T will be used by no one else, but Mr. James Bond. The sweet-looking Sony smartphone will be featuring in the upcoming Skyfall movie.

Yep, the Xperia T will undoubtedly be armed with all kinds of gizmos and killer software to help Agent 007 get out of tricky situations and teach the bad guys a lesson. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Note II promises to be the champion that resurrects the stylus – the second-gen phablet is way more powerful than its predecessor and has learned some cool new tricks. We shot a hands-on video of the Galaxy Note II to give you a sneak peek at some of the improvements.

We start off with a look at the S Note app and test the pressure sensitivity of the new Note II. It can distinguish between 1024 pressure levels, four times as many as the old one, and it shows. Read more »

Toshiba unveils Windows 8 Satellite U920T ultrabook, we take it for a spin

Toshiba announced a new ultrabook on IFA – the Windows 8 Pro running Satellite U920T. It is a convertible with sliding keyboard, which can easily transform from a tablet to a laptop.

The device features a 12.5-inch IPS touch display (up to 5 fingers) with 1366×768 resolution and you can choose between Intel Core i3 or i5 internals. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 gets Android 4.0 update in the US

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.0.4 update for the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the US. The update is 313.96MB in size and brings with it a newer version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, along with the usual Android 4.0 features.

To download the update, either connect the device to your computer and download through Kies or just head over to the Settings app and download the update OTA. Read more »

Samsung announces a trio Windows 8 tablets – meet the ATIV Tab, ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro

Alongside the Windows Phone 8-running ATIV S smartphone, Samsung also announced three Windows 8-powered slates – the 10.1″ ATIV Tab and the 11.6″ ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro.

The latter duo will be coming with detachable keyboards with touchpads, just like the ASUS Transformer tablet, and S Pen-support. Read more »

Samsung announces Galaxy Camera – a Galaxy S III point-and-shoot camera

We have to admit that when a tipster contacted us and told us about a Galaxy S III-based point-and-shoot camera, we were a little skeptical. Doubt has been replaced by excitement, however, as Samsung showed just that at its IFA event – meet the Android Jelly Bean-powered Samsung Galaxy Camera.

Our tipster hit the nail on the head on most specs – including the 4.8″ screen of HD resolution. However it turned out that the Galaxy Camera is rocking a Super Clear LCD, instead of a Super AMOLED screen. Read more »

ASUS renames Tablet 600 and 810 to Vivo Tab and Vivo Tab RT, outs Zenbook U500VZ

Asus is yet another company to bring joy to the ultrabooks and Windows 8 lovers at this year’s IFA in Berlin.

The company has renamed the Computex-born Tablet 600 and 810 to Vivo Tab and Vivo Tab RT and announced a 15″ Zenbook with a model name of U500VR. Read more »
