Google Maps for Android just received a new update with two key improvements. The first extends the amount of info shared between your desktop computer and your Android device – the web history option enables it to access your desktop Google Maps searches. The other update is a cool one-hand zoom method.
After the update, Google Maps for Android can access your search and direction history. So, if you looked up some place on the computer, you can easily find its info again on your phone as it will auto-suggest it as you start typing. Read more »

Microsoft evangelist Ben Rudolf took to the Windows Phone Blog to talk about the new HTC 8X and 8S that were announced yesterday.
Ben talks about the slim shape and the curved glass body of the two devices and how they manage to fit perfectly in your hands. He also makes a note of the ridiculously vibrant colors that the two phones come in. Microsoft has decided to make hay of the Google – Safari fiasco that took place a few months ago, for which Google got fined a cool $22.5 million by the FTC.

Along with the iOS 6 update, Apple also released an important update for its newest desktop operating system, OS X Mountain Lion.

Just like it did with the iPhone 4S, iSuppli has put up an preliminary estimate of the iPhone 5′s Bill of Materials (BOM).
According to the preliminary report, the iPhone 5 carries a BOM of just $199, while the manufacturing costs additional $8. This makes it just $11 more expensive than the iPhone 4S. Read more »
Chinese manufacturer, Cube, has prepped an Android tablet with a display sporting the “Retina” resolution of the iPad 3, namely 2048 x 1536.
The Cube U9GT5 will allegedly cost just $200 (or less than half an iPad 3) and will probably be launched in China first at an unspecified date. Read more »
A reporter of Hungarian tech site MobilPort was able to obtain a Nokia Lumia 920 camera module while over at the Carl Zeiss booth at Photokina 2012.

There’s the laser-cut plastic for enhanced precision, the laminated Zerogap display, the 13MP camera with Time catch shot, the wireless dual-screen functionality (not just mirroring) and more.

We already know that Apple spent quite a lot of time building the ARM-based A6 processor that powers the iPhone 5. It turns out the Cupertino-based company did a great job and its smartphone did pretty in GeekBenchmark, and now we learn that it absolutely smoked the competition when it comes to JavaScript benchmarking.
AnandTech has managed to run the SunSpider benchmark on the iPhone 5 and the results, is the best we have seen from a mobile browser so far. Read more »
