LG Nexus 4 hands-on video released prematurely by Three Sweden [UPDATE: Official]

by 33 comments

The LG Nexus 4 has to be one of the most-leaked phones in recent memory – the latest premature release comes from the official YouTube channel of Sweden’s carrier Three, who posted a quick hands-on with the upcoming Nexus (which was supposed to be announced today, maybe 3 Sweden didn’t get the memo about the cancellation). Update: It’s official, LG announced it even without the event.

The quick UI demo doesn’t really show much, but there are new notification area toggles which look quite interesting. They are not placed above the notifications as usual, but are instead a separate screen you can access by tapping a button. Read more »

Amazon attacks Apple on its homepage, compares the Kindle Fire HD to the iPad Mini

by 166 comments

The 7-inch tablet wars just got serious. After the Nexus 7 got compared (in what I think were less than key areas) to the iPad Mini at the Apple’s event last week, now Amazon has flexed its muscle, pitting its Kindle Fire HD against the iPad Mini on its very homepage.

The online retailer has put up a big ad right on its homepage saying “Much more for much less” and made a comparison of its own 7-inch Kindle Fire HD against the iPad Mini, highlighting the display resolution, pixels per inch and most importantly – the price. Read more »

‘Sonic Jump’ for iOS game review

by 65 comments

Sonic Jump is the latest installment in the series of Sonic games for the mobile platform. However, unlike the other games that came before it, this is a brand new game and not just a port from some other platform. Update: It seems this is a remake of a J2ME game released on mobile several years ago.

With Sonic Jump, the series has taken a new direction, and I mean literally at that. Instead of the previous side scrolling or the third person sprinting, Sonic Jump takes you straight up, as you vertically jump from one platform to another. We decided to take a look and see how well this new experiment works. Read more »

by 92 comments

After its quick start guide leaked yesterday, the Samsung Nexus 10 is certainly just a few days away from its official announcement now. However this doesn’t mean that leaks will suddenly stop and we’ll just sit and wait quietly. This time it’s Google’s Senior Vice President of Engineering who spilled the beans by sharing a couple of photos taken with the slate.

The photo you see above is reported at a resolution of 2048×1536 (3.1MP) and I have to say it doesn’t look too bad.

Furthermore, we got to learn the Samsung Nexus 10 specs thanks to the GLBenchmark website. Read more »

Galaxy Note gets an official Jelly Bean ROM courtesy of the XDA community

by 64 comments

An official ROM from a hackers community such as the XDA? I know, it doesn’t make much sense on first sight, but bear with me. Think of this ROM as a leaked release of the official Samsung-made XXLS2 firmware.

We’ve all known for some time that Samsung is cooking a delicious Jelly bean serving for the original Galaxy Note owners, but the company is yet to release that.

So if you cannot bear to wait any longer, here’s your chance of getting some new tricks running on your smartphone. What better thing to do over the weekend with all this bad weather coming up across Europe. Read more »
