Microsoft makes Skype calls free to and from Nepal as part of relief efforts

by 34 comments

A devastating earthquake shook Nepal and affected thousands over the weekend. Ongoing rescue efforts and relief drives are being multiplied to search for those trapped or stranded, and bring them to a safe place. The earthquake also crippled the communications system for several hours but has been restored to keep the ball rolling.

While many US based mobile operators are waiving off charges and making international calls to Nepal cheaper, the software companies are making VoIP calls free. Google has discounted the rates of the Google Voice calling. In the mean time, Microsoft has announced it will offer free calls to landlines as well as mobile phones made to and from Nepal. No Skype credit is required for these calls. Read more »

Here is what the LG G4 retail box looks like

by 38 comments

As most of you surely know, today is the day that LG finally unveils its latest flagship phone. The event is set for 3:00 PM GMT in London and excitement is at an all-time high. We already know quite a lot about LG’s upcoming top-of-the-line handset we got official renders, banners, a few live photos, as well as a lot of info on specs. There has even been some talk about pricing and production costs, so, we can definitely say that LG hasn’t been too concerned with shrouding the G4 in mystery.

Just mere hours before the device becomes official, a couple of new images allegedly reveal one of the very last things about the LG G4 that we haven’t previously seen – its retail box. The packaging appears to be standard enough with a white rectangular shape and what looks to be a two-piece design. It does have some sort of accent around the logo on the front, but, we can’t really tell if it’s a sticker or the box is curved. What is even more-important, tough, is that the bottom of the package has some specs listed, which provide perfect proof for a lot of what we already know. Read more »

LG G Watch no longer on sale

by 7 comments

One of the first Android Wear devices (the other being the Samsung Gear Live) is no longer being sold. The device is no longer visible on the Play Store in any of the regions. Since Samsung already pulled the Gear Live from certain markets, they now have no Android Device category available on the Play Store.

The G Watch was the first and by far the simplest of all the Android Wear devices. It really was a matchbox shaped device with little to no design flair. It looked like it was designed in the lunch break. It was good enough if you absolutely wanted an Android Wear device and would be okay with the cheapest one available (which is why I have one as well) but it wasn’t something you’d buy because it looked cool.
