Nikon announces COOLPIX S6900

Nikon has announced a new point and shoot camera, the COOLPIX S6900. This one in particular has been designed to facilitate self portraits, and features a swiveling display and a stand to place the camera on.

The S6900 also has a shutter button up front to make it easier to click while holding the camera. You can also do gestures with your hands, which the camera recognizes and takes a picture. Read more »

Apple Watch home screen now available for Android Wear

If you like what Apple has done with the design of the home screen for its upcoming watch, but you already own an Android Wear smartwatch, this might be for you. It turns out that someone has already copied the home screen of the Apple Watch, with all those circular icons, and made it available for Android Wear devices.

There is one huge, albeit probably not unexpected caveat though: this is just a watchface. Hence, the icons don’t do anything, you can’t tap them to enter apps or the likes. Read more »

GTA V arrives on PS4 and Xbox One on November 18, PC only in 2015

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V will finally be out on November 18. There’s a big caveat, though: this release date only applies for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. In case you want to play it on a PC, you’ll unfortunately have to wait until January 27, 2015.

That represents quite the delay, as previously Rockstar said all three versions would be out this fall. Alas, that won’t be the case. Read more »

Meizu says Apple copied its design, Oppo not impressed by the new Retina screen

Meizu and Oppo have joined the growing list of manufacturers that poke fun of Apple for its latest duo of iPhone 6 phones. Meizu has been pointed at for taking a cue or two from the Cupertino company and now it’s striking back.

SanDisk announces 512GB Extreme PRO card

It’s not uncommon for photographers to carry multiple high capacity cards with them. SanDisk has now announced a new card that should make the life of videographers a bit easier.

Nikon announces D750, FX-format DSLR

Nikon has announced the new D750 ahead of Photokina, their latest FX-format DSLR. For those who don’t know, FX is Nikon’s nomenclature for full frame sensor cameras. The D750 sits between the D610 and the D810 and is the successor to the old D700.

The D750 has a full-frame 24.3 megapixel CMOS sensor powered by the EXPEED 4 processor. There is also a stunning 51 point AF system from the D810, and the camera has a burst rate of 6.5fps. Read more »

HTC smartwatch allegedly not canceled, due early 2015

HTC hasn’t actually stopped working on a smartwatch of its own, according to the omniscient “people familiar with the matter”. This report comes to contradict a rumor from last week, which said that the Taiwanese company had given up on the idea of creating its own smartwatch.

The speculation back then was that this had something to do with the company’s effort lacking any ‘wow’ factor when compared to its prospective competitors. Read more »
