Monument Valley was one of the best games to have come out this year, not just on the mobile but in general. The game received rave reviews for its stunning art design, wonderfully complex levels and intriguing puzzles. Apple Pay, the mobile payment system that Tim Cook said will change the way we pay for things forever is starting to gain traction in the US. The service has only been available for a month but already accounts for 50% of the tap-to-pay transactions at McDonalds – the fast food chain supports the service in 14,000 restaurants now.
Grocery chain Whole Foods has also seen plenty of Apple Pay action – more than 150,000 transactions already. Walgreens hasn’t given any specific numbers but has also revealed that mobile payments doubled since Apple Pay came to be. Read more »
YouTube unveiled its subscription service, dubbed Music Key, a couple of days ago. One of the most interesting bits about it is that it actually includes a subscription to Google Play Music All Access, which means you’ll also be able to stream the more than 30 million songs in that catalogue, and get expert-curated playlists too.

Less than 24 hours ago, we spotted the Asus ZenWatch getting listed in the Google Play Store. Back then, however, the smartwatch was only said to be “coming soon”, and you couldn’t order it.

If you’re into round Android Wear-based smartwatches, T-Mobile has a couple of things to tell you. The magenta carrier has today announced that it will begin selling the round LG G Watch R on November 19, which is next Wednesday.

Mobile gaming isn’t going to slow down soon and is ever rising with a lot of creative mobile game studios and developers making a decent chunk of cash. App aggregator and ranking website TopApps has made a useful infographic to show the top iOS games that make the most cash.
The total revenue which the top 200 iOS games make their developers just over $9 million. Taking the top spot is Clash of Clans with a revenue of $1,415,090, followed by Candy Crush Saga with earning of $989,307. Read more »
As the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge starts selling around the world, more and more of you will be considering owning the curved-screen phone. The company understands that most customers will have their doubts before purchasing it and addressed them in a lengthy blog post.
Samsung reveals that one of the major fears among potential customers is that the curved display will easily crack upon dropping the phone and assures that it had conducted more than 1,000 drop tests. They all were designed to simulate the different angles the phone may be dropped and the results show the phone is quite durable. A large part of the reason why is the phone’s metal frame. The Nvidia Shiled tablet is getting Android 5.0 Lollipop by the end of the month, we knew that much. But now we know the date – Nvidia has announced it will be rolling out the “simple software upgrade” on November 18.
Aside from Material Design and the new Android Runtime as default the Shield tablet will get an upgraded Dabbler 2.0 studio with layer support and sharing/streaming features, Shield Hub, Nvidia Grid and new games like Half-Life 2:Episode one. Read more »
We recently saw a video of Sony Xperia Z1, Z2, and Z3 running on AOSP build of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Sony has now released the source code and binaries, along with instructions that will let you run it on your Xperia device.
To be clear, all of this is intended for developers who want to build custom ROMs based on the AOSP build for these Xperia devices. This isn’t an actual ROM that you can just flash on to your device. Read more »
Today Microsoft has unveiled a new free video editing app for Windows Phone 8.1. It’s called Movie Creator, and it’s available in beta in the Windows Phone app store, for Lumia smartphones. It also works on tablets running Windows 8.1.
It lets you create movies using up to 25 videos you’ve recorded on your phone, as well as photos, cinemagraphs, ‘living images’, and music from your mobile device. Read more »
SanDisk has announced the iXpand Flash Drive storage drive for iOS 7 and iOS 8 devices. The drive sports a Lightning connector and plugging it into an iPhone or an iPad automatically launches the iXpand sync ap.
You can configure it to automatically sync photos and videos from the camera roll. The iXpand sports cross-platform encryption and can be password protected. Read more »
NVIDIA’s Shield portables can stream a game from your computer, but they will soon gain the ability to stream from NVIDIA’s computers – support for the Grid gaming service will arrive as part of the Lollipop upgrade. The service runs the game in the cloud and streams 720p@60fps footage to the Shield, with very low latency (so the company promises).
“State-of-the-art NVIDIA GPU servers” will handle the rendering on the cloud part. Read more »
The earnest team over at CyanogenMod have churned out another snapshot of the CM11 ROM. M12 doesn’t add new features, but instead focuses on bringing CyanogenMod 11 closer to a stable build and patching the POODLE vulnerability in SSLv3.
While CyanogenMod 11 is still only Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the CM team has some news concerning Android 5.0 Lollipop as well. The team started work on a Lollipop update a week ago and expects its nightly CyanogenMod 12 builds to arrive between the end of this month and the beginning of the next one. Read more »
