Google Play Music app gets updated for iOS 7

Google has released an update to the recently launched Google Play Music app on iOS. The latest update brings minor UI changes to keep it in sync with iOS 7 design guidelines.

BBM will come preinstalled on LG smartphones

BlackBerry’s popular BBM instant messaging app will come preinstalled on LG smartphones. The Canadian company announced a bundling agreement with LG which will include standard and virtual preloading of the app.

Opera Max will help you save data on all your apps

Opera is working in a new service called Opera Max that will help you save data on all your apps, not just the browser. It compresses data for every image, video and text file downloaded to your device regardless of the application downloading it.

It works by installing the Opera Max application on your Android device. The app configures a VPN server on your device and routs all your data through it. The server will compress all data before sending it to your device, thus saving your data and time. This works for all apps except those that use https, so any secure content such as online payments and mail services won’t be compressed. Read more »

ARM shares rise amidst rumors of Google server deal

Gmail will soon show images in the emails by default

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s update to the Android version, Google announced that it will soon automatically display Gmail images in the body of the emails by default. The feature will be available on the web version of the email client, as well as its iOS and Android counterparts.

Samsung ChatOn gets SMS support

Samsung has added SMS and MMS support to its own chat client – the ChatOn. The app comes pre-installed on every Galaxy smartphone since the Galaxy S II and has extensive IM functionality.

I think the SMS/MMS support is long overdue though, since both Viber and Hangouts already have this functionality. Even the Facebook Messenger has had it until recently, but it was dropped due to low user interest. Read more »

SkyDrive for iOS gets a massive update with automatic photo upload

Google+ for iOS now supports for size image uploads

Google has released an update for the Google+ app on iOS that brings a useful new feature for those who take a lot of photos and also happen to use Google+. The latest update now allows you to upload full resolution images and videos to your account without any compression or resizing. This feature is only available to those running on iOS 7.

You can now also share your location with your friends. People can now see others sharing their location on a map and you can choose who is displayed on the map. This is similar to the Find My Friends app on iOS, but instead uses the vastly superior Google Maps. Read more »
