Experian Marketing Services has studied how Americans use their smartphones and has uncovered some curious differences between Android and iOS. On average, a smartphone owner would use their phone for 58 minutes each day.
This is where the first difference between the two platforms comes in – iPhone users spend an hour and 15 minutes on their phone on average, while Android users spend less than 50 minutes. Read more »
Qualcomm has a special app called BatteryGuru that optimizes power usage on phones with Snapdragon chipsets and it just graduated out of beta. It’s an easy to use app as it does its own thing – it spends a couple of days in the background learning your usage habits and then gets in control of things like Wi-Fi, which apps are allowed to run in the background, and so forth.
BatteryGuru learns the locations of the Wi-Fi networks you use and powers off Wi-Fi connectivity when you’re away from them. Read more »
ASUS has started to roll out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates to its Transformer AiO, a hybrid tablet, which features all the performance of Windows 8 desktop and has the flexibility of an Android tablet.

The doubleTwist music player has received a new update, which brings with it a fresh new UI. Although the previous version looked quite stunning, the UI had started looking a bit out of place on the clean, flat UI design of modern Android versions.
The latest version addresses that by opting for the new Holo UI guidelines while maintaining some of the look of the previous versions. You will now see flatter textures and typical Holo UI elements such as action bar at the top with an Up button and drop down lists. However, the app still maintains the dark gray background color and the custom fonts that make sure it stands out and doesn’t look like just another Holo app. Read more »
Samsung and Swisscom promoted the fourth generation Galaxy S smartphone in the Zurich Main Station in an interesting manner. Samsung challenged the audience to stare at the Galaxy S4 for 60 minutes straight without looking away – and it wasn’t an easy task due to lots of available distractions.
Samsung promised a free Galaxy S4 smartphone to anyone who managed to stare at the device for 60 minutes non-stop with distractions like police dogs barking, hot dog vendors on fire, musicians, motorcycles driving past your side and crashing and other such attention killers. Read more »
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series, including 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch variants, has been priced by online retailer Adorama in the US.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a split personality – it’s either powered by a Snapdragon 600 chipset (the I9505) or by Samsung’s own Exynos 5 Octa (the I9500). It took a while before it became clear which model goes to which country, but now it’s time to find out the answer to a more important question – does it matter?
Typically, Samsung uses Qualcomm chipsets for its US models (due to the chipsets built-in LTE support) and sold their Exynos smartphones elsewhere. Now, the situation is different and the Snapdragon-based model is more common, perhaps due to low manufacturing capacity for the new eight core Exynos chipset. Read more »

Lenovo slowly but surely shows its potential of becoming a respectable smartphone maker (the K900 being its latest and greatest Android smartphone), but outside of China, its smartphones are only available in India, Indonesia and Russia.

The Hisense Sero 7 Pro Android tablet, together with the entry-level Sero 7 LT slate, is the Chinese manufacturer’s first effort designed with the lucrative US market in mind. Priced at the highly acceptable $149.99, the Jelly Bean slate offers a better spec sheet than a Google Nexus 7 for noticeably less cash.

If you ever stumbled upon the recently created Windows Phone tumblr blog, you’d have notice a smattering of amusing GIFs comparing the quality of the Lumia 920′s low light images against those of the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III.
Now, they have released a video that shows the three phones placed side by side, shooting the same bizarre scene all at the same time and then the results are provided for you to see.
