Sony Developer World videos showcase the specs of the Xperia Z Ultra and SmartWatch 2

We already saw a few promo videos for Sony’s new Xperia Z Ultra and SmartWatch 2, but the Sony Developer World also released videos. They are aimed at devs, which is good since they focus more on describing the features than on getting you to buy one.

The videos don’t really give out new information, but offer a good summary of the specs and clarify some things that weren’t 100% clear yesterday. Read more »

Highest-ever Skype video call made from Mount Everest using an HTC One, for charity

Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, gets great reception. No really, it saw its first 3G video call in 2010, the first tweet in 2011 and now the first Skype video call in 2013. The feat was achieved by brit Daniel Hughes who is raising £1 million for the Comic Relief anti-poverty charity.

He wanted one million people to donate a single pound and decided to climb Everest to promote this charity. Read more »

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour gets a massive update

Gameloft’s popular first person shooter has received a massive update that adds several new game modes and maps. The update was released a few days ago on iOS but is now available on Android as well.

Among the changes in the Meltdown Update are three new multiplayer maps: Fracture, Extraction and Backfire. There is also a new Demolition specialization that brings with it seven new perks, such as ability to carry 50% more ammo, increase reload speed, dropping a grenade whenever you die, etc. Read more »

First Sony Xperia Z Ultra AnTuTu benchmark surfaces

A screencap showing off an AnTuTu benchmark score of what is allegedly the just-announced Sony Xperia Z Ultra has surfaced.

Age of Empires coming to Android and iOS, Windows Phone 8 version to follow

Microsoft has teamed up with Japanese mobile game studio KLab to bring its best-selling title Age of Empires to Android and iOS devices, according to Reuters.

KLab will be responsible for sqeezing the game onto smaller screens and making the real-time strategy thumb-friendly. Read more »

Official Imgur app launches on Android, still going through checks on iOS

If you’re a fan of Reddit, or memes, or the whole internet comedy via images thing then you’ve probably have or heard or used Imgur’s services. It’s the place to store all your pictures, memes, screenshots, and what not.

The just-announced Sony Xperia Z Ultra offers a massive 6.4″ screen of 1080p resolution. Besides being ultra crisp, the display features some advanced display technologies that it borrows from Sony Bravia HDTVs and the company provided a short video to demonstrate their benefits.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra was officially launched just moments ago and Sony, as is its tradition, has promptly posted its first promo videos on YouTube.

The Big Screen, Big Entertainment video is Sony’s roundup of the Xperia Z Ultra’s mouth-watering features. The X Reality display for richer colors and great sharpness, the water-resistance and its uses (naturally there’s a pool involved), Sony has even got a smart cover-type accessory in the video. OUYA goes on sale in US, UK and Canada

The tiny Android-based game console OUYA has finally gone from being a Kickstarter project to an actual product that you can purchase. Starting today, you will be able to purchase the console in US, UK and Canada.

The console is now available in stores such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and GAME for $99 in the US. If you want to get a second controller, you would have to shell out another $49.99. Read more »

Did Samsung just drop the Kernel source code for the Google Edition S4?

The flashing community is going to love this. Samsung has apparently jumped the gun and aired the Kernel source files for its Google Edition Galaxy S4.

The Kernel source code could allow developers to tailor their custom ROMs to the underlying hardware – making the radio, camera and many other components work as they should. Read more »

HP officially announces the Slate 21 AIO Android tablet with Tegra 4 chipset

At an event in Beijing, China, HP officially took the wraps off the Slate 21 Android tablet. It’s built around a 21.5″ IPS display sporting a 1920×1080 pixels resolution.

The rather oversized tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 chipset and runs Android 4.2.2. The extra space is further used to house a dual speakers DTS Digital Theater Systems setup. Read more »

HDR, ISO modes, scenes and stabilization coming to CM 10.1 Xperias T, V, Z, ZL and Tab Z

According to Google+ user Giulio Cervera new camera features are coming to Android 4.2.2-based CyanogenMod 10.1 exclusively for the Xperias V, T, Z, ZL and Wi-Fi and LTE Tab Z.

The new features include HDR imaging (not video), ISO modes, Scene modes and Sony’s image and video digital stabilization. Read more »
