Google has released a new dedicated app for all the games on the Play Store, called Google Play Games. This app puts focus on discovering new games as well as tracking your achievements and scores as well as playing multiplayer games with your friends. It’s more or less the Game Center equivalent for Android.

The Play Games app looks quite similar to the new Play Music and Play Movies apps. You can see a list of your friends from Google+ with details about the games they have and their achievements. Currently, not a lot of games support this feature so you’re likely to see mostly empty profile pages. Read more »

by 15 comments

The Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom is a rework of the Galaxy Camera from last year, and it’s based on the Galaxy S4 mini, rather than the Galaxy S III. While shooting photos may be one of the primary goals of the S4 zoom, the device is a proper smartphone.

It’s got a slightly bigger battery than the S4 mini – 2,330mAh vs. 1,900mAh – but the chipset is older, let’s see how that balances out. Read more »

Samsung now mass producing 3GB RAM for smartphones, Galaxy Note III to get first dibs

The new chips offer better overall performance for future smartphones – potentially coming to the Galaxy Note III first.

The Note III is rumored to launch with 3GB RAM and should be unveiled in early September at IFA, so starting manufacturing of the new RAM chips now seems to be just in time. Samsung shows 10 features you probably didn’t know the Galaxy S4 had

Yet, Samsung takes pity on those less tech inclined and posted a list of 10 features the Samsung Galaxy S4 has out of the box that you might have missed.

They range from “that’s nice, I guess” to genuinely useful features. Read more »

Next generation Nexus 7 goes up for pre-order on Best Buy

by 15 comments

It just seems like yesterday when we were looking at its leaked press images (then again, it probably was). Now the next generation Nexus 7 tablet, which still hasn’t been formally announced, is already up for pre-order.

As you can see from the image above, Best Buy has decided to jump the gun and put up the tablet for pre-order even before Google officially announces it. As we had heard before, there are two models in 16GB and 32GB capacities respectively. Oddly missing is a 3G model, for now at least, but since we definitely saw a SIM slot on one of the press images we can only assume it would be arriving later. Read more »
