Opera is working in a new service called Opera Max that will help you save data on all your apps, not just the browser. It compresses data for every image, video and text file downloaded to your device regardless of the application downloading it.

It works by installing the Opera Max application on your Android device. The app configures a VPN server on your device and routs all your data through it. The server will compress all data before sending it to your device, thus saving your data and time. This works for all apps except those that use https, so any secure content such as online payments and mail services won’t be compressed. Read more »

The Xolo Play Tegra Note built on NVIDIA’s platform is now available for pre-order in India. The tablet is based on the Tegra 4 chipset and is priced at INR 18,000 ($290). If you pre-order now, Flipkart and Xolo will throw in a Smart Cover, which otherwise costs INR 2,499 ($40).

Google has expanded the reach of Maps Navigation to 25 new countries across Africa, Europe, Central America and Asia.

Google Maps Navigation, which is still carrying the beta tag, is now available in 99 countries. The coverage in newly added countries is said to include all the major roads covered with turn-by-turn navigation. Read more »

We already know that Cut the Rope 2 will debut on December 19 as an iOS exclusive with an Android version following suit early next year.

But now Zeptolab has launched a trailer for the upcoming title which shows some new characters, gameplay and is quite entertaining to watch. SwiftKey has released a new beta version of its popular keyboard that adds support for the much requested emoji feature. Previously, the emoji keyboard was only available on Nexus devices running 4.1 and above, even though emoji was available system-wide on other devices as well. A lack of keyboard meant you could only view them and not enter them, which thankfully SwiftKey fixes.

Now you can just press and hold the new line key and access the emoji keyboard. The emoji will appear black and while on devices running 4.1-4.3 and color on 4.4 devices. SwiftKey also recognizes key words, such as “sleepy”, “pizza”, “broken”, “cheers” and “kiss” and presents the appropriate emoji as a suggestion. Read more »
