The Qualcomm Toq, the chipset makers first piece of wearable tech, went on sale yesterday.

Despite the rather steep $350 price tag, the device has already sold out. You can still get you hands on one, though, as Qualcomm is currently accepting pre-orders for a second batch of Toqs, expected to ship in 1-2 weeks. Read more »

CyanogenMod 10.2 final version is now available for download

The final and stable version of CyanogenMod 10.2 is ready for prime time. The developer team behind the most popular Android ROM is now shifting its focus primarily on CyanogenMod 11, which will bring Android 4.4 KitKat to the CM masses.

The CyanogenMod team will also continue to provide hot fixes and security patches as they are needed. This is quite an important milestone for them as this stable CM 10.2 release marks the end of Jelly Bean-based development. Read more »

If Black Friday has been too much of a hassle for you but you still need a good deal on a tablet, Amazon’s got you covered. It’s now selling its 7″ Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HD slates at a discounted prices until quantities last.

Both slates have seen a $50 discount – the Fire HD’s 16 GB version is now $119, while the Fire HDX has $50 on all its storage options, the cheapest being $179 for the 16 gig. Read more »

iOS devices outstrip Android devices in online shopping during holidays

If you watched the recent Apple keynotes, Apple’s retort to the argument that Android devices are outselling iOS devices is that more people are actually using iOS devices as compared to Android devices. While Apple is known to blow things out of proportion in its keynotes, it’s not completely wrong on this.

According to data collected by IBM and Adobe while tracking Thanksgiving and Black Friday online shopping this year, they have come to the conclusion that iOS devices are far ahead of Android devices for being used to make these purchases. Read more »

Android 4.4 KitKat degrades video playback performance

Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest version of the Google developed mobile operating system. The 4.4 was promised to enhance the overall performance and as far as we can tell from those devices that have already been updated that it mostly true.

However, it turns out that at least one aspect of the user experience has actually taken a turn for the worse. A study by OptaFidelity found that video playbacks in Android 4.4 is notably worse than it was on 4.3 Jelly Bean. Read more »

CyanogenMod installer app removed from the Google Play Store

The official CyanogenMod installer was pulled out of the Google Play Store. The app was voluntarily removed after the Google Play Support team contacted CyanogenMod that its creation was violating the store’s terms.

The app specifically violated the Google Play Store Terms of Service by encouraging users to void the warranty of their devices, despite being harmless in its nature. Read more »

Motorola Moto G plagued by a recovery bug
