Sol Republic want a piece of the premium headphones market, we get curious [HANDS-ON]

by 27 comments

When I first heard of the recently founded headphone maker Sol Republic, my first thought was if there was any room left on the market for a new supplier of premium headphones. The U.S. market in particular is dominated by Beats Audio – the company with Dr. Dre as its face, followed by several competitors. In a nutshell – it is not the friendliest environment to launch a new product, given the already established competition.

Once I found out more about the newcomer however, its aspirations began to make a lot more sense. Sol Republic (by the way, Sol stands for “soundtrack of life”, not something related to the sun) is founded by Read more »

LG Nitro HD completed our battery trial, here are the results [TEST]

by 28 comments

The LG Nitro HD for AT&T Wireless is the second smartphone with an HD screen to take a run on our battery test track. The HTC Rezound was the first device we tested with this type of screen and its achievement did not impress. We were thus curious to see how another competitor with similar spec sheet will fare in the same conditions.

At a first glance, the 1830mAh Li-Ion battery of the LG Nitro HD looks Read more »

It’s been a while since we got a taste of an LG flagship, so we were more than curious to spend some quality time with the company’s freshly launched Nitro HD for AT&T Wireless. As the highlight of its top of the line spec sheet, the LTE rocking smartphone boasts an award winning, 4.5″ AH-IPS LCD screen with HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution – more than enough to spark our interest.

Samsung Captivate Glide takes the rounds of our battery test, here are the results [TEST]

by 22 comments

We have another Android device with a slide-out QWERTY complete our battery test. Unlike the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro however, the Samsung Captivate Glide for AT&T packs an extra CPU core and an energy efficient, 4″ Super AMOLED screen.

The Captivate Glide is powered by the same 1650mAh battery as the Galaxy S II which we recently tested. With a screen from an older generation and a different CPU (the Captivate Glide packs an NVIDIA Tegra II), we were quite curious to put the droid through its paces. Read more »

HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless hands-on [REVIEW]

by 28 comments

The HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless has the richest spec sheet in the entire HTC global lineup – a true flagship from every angle you look at it.

The Rezound is also the first HTC creation in the United States, made in collaboration with the newly acquired Beats Audio. The device arrived fashionably late to the market, compared to its rest of the world, siblings, gone through Dr. Dre’s treatment but, dare we say, the wait was well worth it.

HTC Rezound enters our battery test track, see if it can Beats its way out [TEST]

by 52 comments

As the current flasghip of the company, we were more than interested to put the HTC Rezound battery through its paces. After all, the device packs a monster spec sheet, coupled with some serious multimedia credentials. A battery to match the aforementioned is more than essential – it is simply mandatory.

The Rezound packs a 1620mAh battery – certainly not the largest we’ve seen in an Android device. The battery will have to deal with a dual-core CPU and, most importantly, an HD screen. It surely has a difficult task ahead of it. Read more »

The Samsung Exhibit II 4G is one of the fastest product sequels we’ve seen in quite some time. Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket landed in front of our camera [VIDEO]

by 46 comments

When the Samsung Galaxy S II trio got announced in the United States a couple of months ago, AT&T wireless’s offering came closest to the original I9100. The versions for Sprint Wireless and T-Mobile came with bigger, 4.5″ Super AMOLED Plus screens. The aforementioned occurrence left quite a few AT&T customers just a tad disappointed for being stuck with “only” a 4.3″ screen. After all, bigger is always better in America.

Well, it looks like AT&T has decided to take action and fix things with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. The Android powerhouse now comes with the same 4.5″ screen as its T-Mobile and Sprint siblings. AT&T has also given it the LTE treatment to make up for the wait.
