Instagram released an Android version of their app last month, but it has always trailed behind the iOS version. Initially, it didn’t even work on most phones and even if it did, it lacked some features found on the iOS version.

The app has been constantly updated ever since it was released and with the latest update it comes closest to matching its iOS counterpart. At first Rovio’s CMO said that Angry Birds Space will not be coming to Windows Phone. Not long after that (presumably after Microsoft made some calls), Rovio’s CEO said that a Windows Phone version of Angry Birds Space is in the works.

Now Nokia has officially confirmed at CTIA that Rovio will be releasing Angry Birds Space for Windows Phone. Nokia will be partnering with Rovio to get the game on their Lumia phones (which just might get the game before other Window Phone customers) and to bring future Rovio titles to Windows Phone as soon as possible. AMOLED displays, although beautiful to look at, have had issues performing under bright sunlight. The first phones to use AMOLED displays were barely usable outdoors. Eventually the technology improved, specifically when Samsung introduced their Super AMOLED displays, which had significantly better outdoor visibility, and these days AMOLED displays are even outperforming LCDs when it comes to visibility under sunlight.

One such AMOLED display belongs to the Nokia Lumia 900, which despite its AMOLED nature performed very well under bright light, thanks to Nokia’s Clear Black Display technology, in a comparison test performed by DisplayMate. Read more »

We have seen pictures of a BlackBerry-style phone running Android OS even before the OS was officially announced. Eventually, we got a lot more pictures of how Android looked back in the day. Now, developer Steven Troughton-Smith has managed to get his hands on an early prototype of the device, called the Google Sooner.

Samsung had a special announcement to make at the very end of the Galaxy S III launch event yesterday. The company announced a special variety of pop-up stores called Pin stores exclusively for the Galaxy S III.

The Pin stores have a very Apple Store like glass walls and being pop-up stores are not as big as regular stores since they are designed to be moved around. Customers will be able to purchase the Galaxy S III here with or without a contract but the main focus will be on letting the customers experience the device, unlike most other stores where you walk in and just purchase the phone. Bang & Olufsen, more commonly known as B&O, has launched a new LCD TV called the BeoPlay V1. The best part about this set is the flexibility of its design that allows you to position it in multiple ways.

The TV has a unique mount for the stand that allows four different positions. One allows you to wall mount the TV, the other can be used to place it on the floor at a sufficient height so that it is approximately the same height as your seating position, the other places it at floor level with a tilt to point it towards you and the last one lets you hang the TV from the ceiling so it looks like it is suspended in mid-air. The Verge has managed to get their hands on some rather exciting news for gamers in the US who cannot afford to pay the full price for an Xbox-Kinect bundle but would still want to get their hands on one.

According to their sources, Microsoft is set to launch a subsidized version of the Xbox-Kinect bundle only for $99 and it could be released as early as next week. Read more »

Sony has officially announced their first Ultrabooks, the VAIO T11 and T13. As you can guess, the former has a 11-inch display and the latter a 13-inch display.

Both Ultrabooks will feature a sleek magnesium and aluminum body that will be 17.8mm thick. You get a full set of ports, including Ethernet, VGA, HDMI, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0 and also an SD card slot. It has the traditional VAIO chicklet keyboard and a MacBook style trackpad that will hopefully will be similarly good. Read more »

Apple is under fire once again due to its App Store policies, this time for rejecting apps that use the Dropbox SDK. It goes like this: some developers were found complaining on Dropbox forums that their apps made using the Dropbox SDK are being rejected by Apple.

The reason given by Apple for these rejections is that these apps do not use in-app purchasing and instead open Safari and take the user to the Dropbox site and lets them purchase additional storage from there. Apple has had this rule for some time now that any app-related purchase should always take place within the app itself using in-app purchasing and not outside the app. Any app found in violation of this rule will be rejected or removed. Treyarch has officially announced the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, the Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The official site for the game went live yesterday on May 1 and now we also have the official trailer for the game.

The new game takes place in the year 2025 during the second Cold War. You play as David Mason, the son of Alex Mason from the previous game, although there are flashback portions that take place in 1980 where you will also get to play as Alex Mason. Your main objective in the game will be to hunt down someone called Raul Menendez. Read more »

The Skype app for iOS got updated and brings with it some useful changes. The list of new features includes the ability to move your own video preview around. You know, the little window that appears at the bottom of the screen during a video call.

Other changes include a new UI design for contacts, messages and log in screen, improved accessibility, improved stability and bug fixes. The iPad version of the app also received these changes except for the UI redesign. Read more »
