E-ink technology has definitely been on the rise lately. The amazing, monochrome, low-powered panels are what has basically allowed the e-reader market to sprawl. And while you would expect to find a e-ink display in a handheld device, the guys over at Ishuu Technologies have found a more unconventional use for the tech.
Their extravagant brain child is called Volvorii and it is basically a smart pair of high heels, which have a plastic e-ink display stretching along the surface. That display is hooked up to a tiny controller board, hidden away inside the thick sole, which offers Bluetooth LE connectivity and has a small battery with wireless charging. Read more »

One of the cool features is that the rubberized bands around the second generation Moto E are removable and can be interchanged with various color options. Motorola also offers grip shells that add a clear plastic shell for the back of the phone for protection.
After recently launching the phone in India, Motorola has now started selling the bands and shells as well through its online partner Flipkart. The bands are available in two sets consisting of three bands each. You can either choose from Raspberry, Turquoise, Purple or Red, Blue, Yellow. Read more »

Gameloft has decided to make Modern Combat 5: Blackout free in its next update on iOS and Android. The game was priced at $7 at launched and didn’t have any in-app purchases, but that’s about to change now.
In the next update, Gameloft is adding a couple of other things just making the game free. There is now controller support (I could have sworn it was there before too), new soldier class, and a new weapons class. But if you’re someone who paid for the game, you receive Veteran Status, which gets you unlimited energy for life, veteran exclusive kill sign and camo, and 200 credits. Read more »
A German court has ordered a nationwide ban on UberPop, a ridesharing service that lets drivers without a taxi license register with Uber and offer trips in their own cars at a lower rate. The case was brought last year by German taxi operator group Taxi Deutschland.
The ruling came after the Frankfurt district court found the low-cost service to be in violation of the country’s public transportation act, according to which any service carrying passengers for a fee must be operated by licensed drivers. The court also set a fine of $270,000 for each violation of the order. Read more »

The previously rumored smartwatch by the Swiss manufacturer Tag Heuer will make its official debut in less than a day at Basel World. The announcement is scheduled to take place on March 19 at 1pm UK time.

Google started the whole ‘music locker’ craze when it offered free storage for up to 20,000 tracks through its Play Music service (that limit has since been upped to 50,000). And now, following Amazon, Microsoft wants a piece of this pie too.
So it’s teamed up its OneDrive cloud storage service with Xbox Music. The former stores your existing music collection, while the latter lets you play it on your PC, Windows Phone, or Xbox. Unfortunately though, iOS and Android devices are not supported. Read more »
The euro’s current instability when it comes to exchange rates against the US dollar has forced OnePlus to take some drastic measures. Starting next week, the Chinese company’s One (and only) smartphone will become more expensive to buy in Europe.
Right now, the 16GB model is priced at €269, while the 64GB version goes for €299. But from March 25 onwards you’ll need to pay €299 for the 16GB variant and €349 for the one with 64GB of storage. Read more »
HTC’s welcome new customer service initiative, dubbed UH OH, will apparently cover not only the yet-to-be-released One M9 flagship smartphone, but also the current One (M8), as confirmed during the company’s dedicated announcement. Don’t go rushing to the stores just yet though, as the program will go live starting with the availability of the new generation top dog.

HTC Dot View case for One M8 became the best-selling accessory HTC has ever released. It was made available for other smartphones following the M8 success – Desire 510 and Desire Eye. Quite naturally HTC will be launching a One M9-copmatible Dot View case in time for the flagship’s official release.

Less than a year after the authorities in the South Korean city of Seoul announced plans to ban it, 30 executives of the ridesharing company Uber, including its CEO Travis Kalanick, have been charged by the local police with operating illegal taxi business and hence violating the country’s transportation law.
Aside from the CEO, the company’s South Korea brand manager, as well as other employees and drivers have been booked. Authorities have also seized 432 items as evidence, including handsets that the company’s South Korean unit distributed to its drivers. Read more »
