The next iPhone is maybe only days away from an official launch (here’s hoping) and the hype levels are through the roof. That’s why even minor news, concerning the upcoming Apple smartphone are greeted with quite a lot of excitement. Like this one – you might be a few seconds away from seeing the first photo captured with the iPhone 5.

The photo EXIF says that it has been created with an iPhone 4, but its resolution is 2235×2291 (around 5.12 megapixels), which is more than the iPhone 4 can capture. Plus the rectangular aspect suggests that the image has been cropped, possibly from a 3264×2448 pixels original -8 megapixels. The other clue is the lens specs, which are listed in the EXIF file as 4.3mm f/2.4, which is not even close to the current iPhone’s 3.85mm f/2.8. Read more »

The Sony Ericsson Nozomi is still happily living in rumorland, but we keep getting more information about it. The latest bit of online gossip has it that the future Sony Ericsson flagship will feature a dual-core processor -and one that’s clocked at 1.5GHz. Previous rumors suggested otherwise, but the new CPU seems more worthy of a flagship device.

The rest of the Nozomi specs include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4.3″ 1280×720 resolution display with the amazing 342 ppi (pixels per inch), which is more than the one on the Retina display, 12 MP camera, 1 gig or RAM, a 1750 mAh battery and a microSIM slot. Read more »

The Google offices in Seoul were raided by the antitrust officials in South Korea. The company is suspected of conducting anticompetitive behavior with its Android smartphone platform, Reuters reports.

The complaint was filled by NHN Corp and Daum Communications Corp, who say Android smartphones have Google’s search engine installed as a default navigation tool and are “systematically designed” to make it virtually impossible to switch to another option. Read more »

The Nokia Sleeping Screen app got updated with a few nice changes. The app adds images, notifications, charging indicators and more to the AMOLED screen of a sleeping Symbian phone.

The updated app can be installed on any internal storage (including the Mass memory) and user-created images are compressed to reduce the app’s footprint. Read more »

Symbian Belle will debut with the Nokia 600, 700 and 701 trio, but the older Symbians should be getting it soon after that. Yet if you are knowledgeable and brave enough to flash your smartphone with a custom ROM, Belle has been available for a few weeks now. And now there’s a newer ROM for the Nokia N8 available that should be much closer to the final deal.

Still, as with all software that isn’t fully finalized, there’s a risk of trouble (some bugs at the least), but Nokia’s Head of Social Media, Mark Squires, has already installed Belle on his N8. Read more »

The HTC Jetstream is now official and heading to AT&T with LTE connectivity, 10.1″ screen, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1 gig of RAM, 8 MP camera on its back and HTC Sense on top of its Android Honeycomb OS. It’s a very appealing slate by any standards. But it’s steep – prices start from $699.99 on a two-year deal.

After the recent leak of an RUU (ROM update utility), was found to contain an early beta build of Android 3.2 Honeycomb destined for the HTC Flyer, hacking masters including Paul O’Brien from MoDaCo, set about making it into a usable ROM for users with rooted devices to try out.

One such user from the XDA forums has provided screenshots to the internets of this Honeycomb ROM running on their 32GB 3G HTC Flyer. Read more »

If you’ve been waiting for the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II, the one with the painfully long name, your wait will soon be over. Sprint has now started accepting pre-orders for the device on their website.

Sprint is offering the Samsung Epic 4G Touch for $199.99 on pre-order. However, you can save some money and choose to get it from Wirefly instead, who are offering it for $149.99. Read more »

Samsung has announced an LTE version of their popular Galaxy S II smartphone as well as the Galaxy Tab 8.9. The Galaxy S II LTE will feature an updated hardware, where the CPU clock speed will be bumped to 1.5GHz from the 1.2GHz on the current model and the display will be taken to 4.5-inch from the 4.3-inch on the standard Galaxy S II.

The LTE model will be launched in Europe in the second quarter of 2012 on T-Mobile’s network. The delay is due to the fact that T-Mobile’s LTE network is currently not equipped to handle voice calls. Also, the device itself is not ready to go on sale at the moment. Read more »

One complaint that is always made about the iPad (and iOS devices in general) is the lack of Flash support. But after Apple loosened the restrictions on the App Store guidelines, we started seeing browsers that would let you play Flash videos on the iPad. However, Flash-based games, such as ones found on Facebook, were still a no go.

Not anymore though. iSWiFTER lets you play all those Flash games that you love on the iPad. Whether it is Facebook, Google+ or any other site that offers Flash-based games, you can now play them on the iPad through this nifty little browser. In the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung, one more round has gone in favor of the Cupertino-based company. Apple won the second preliminary injunction against Samsung in Germany, causing the court to ban the sales and promotion of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the country.

A few days back Samsung had announced the Galaxy Tab 7.7 at IFA 2011 in Germany. The devices had large stickers on them that stated that the device won’t be offered on sale in Germany. Read more »
