Google’s Android Developers program has just landed on Google+. It’s a bit strange that it took so long because they have had a Twitter profile for a while now.
The new Google+ profile is meant for “Android developers everywhere to meet, share, and connect with the people behind the Android developer experience”.
First, I would like to note that a display with such specs will not will not find itself into a smartphone or a tablet in the foreseeable future. Given the fact however, that pixel density has become a real battlefield among the manufacturers of mobile devices lately, I do believe that MicroOLED’s latest display must be noted. With the MWC closing in, the rumors of what will (or won’t) be announced are all over the place. One of the more consistent rumors is that Samsung will announce the Galaxy Tab 11.6 Android tablet.
The name suggests a 11.6″ screen, but according to the rumors, the tablet itself won’t be much larger than the Tab 10.1. The screen will supposedly have a whopping WQXGA resolution (2560×1600).
The hit mobile game Cut the Rope has now landed on your desktop browser. The game developers have partnered with Microsoft to release the game for their Internet Explorer 9 browser. Having said that, the game works just fine on other browsers too.
This version of the game seems to be identical to the one that we saw for Windows 8. It uses a landscape layout unlike the mobile versions. Right now, you only have 25 levels available, with the last seven only available if you pin the game through IE9 to your Windows 7 taskbar. Additional levels are expected to arrive soon.
Sony has just launched three new point-and-shoot cameras, the Cyber-shot WX50, WX70 and the TX200V. The former two are visually similar and come with identical 16.2 megapixel, 1/2.3 type (7.77mm) Exmor R CMOS sensors. The other similarities include a 5x optical zoom, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optics, Sony’s BIONZ processor, ISO 3200 (or up to ISO 12800 using software tricks) and 1080i video at 60fps. Only difference between the two is that the WX50 comes with a smaller 2.7-inch, 460k dot display and the WX70 has a larger 3-inch, 921k dot touchscreen display.
Both the cameras will be available by mid-March 2012 and will cost $199.99 and $229.99 respectively.
Motorola’s newest tablet, the oddly named Xyboard, has gone on sale in the US. The tablet is now available on Motorola’s website and will be delivered to you within two days with free shipping.
Motorola is offering you two models, in 8.2-inch and 10.1-inch display sizes and each of them will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants respectively. The prices for the 8.2-inch models are $399.99 and $499.99 and the 10.1-inch models will cost you $100 more at $499.99 and $599.99 for the same storage capacities. Currently, only the Wi-Fi version is on sale.
Despite a point of contention over the true nature of these applications, a string of 13 apps have been identified as potential threats on the Android Market.
One of the largest security software makers in the business, Symantec (best known for the Norton security software family) say they’ve identified these applications and relate them to a botnet-like virus called Android.Tonclank.
