Well, this comes as a personal surprise to me. After publicly mocking 7-inch slates at one of Apple’s earning calls, it seems Steve Jobs after all, approved of the smaller-sized tablets. This came out as part of the evidence, presented in court in the heated Apple vs. Samsung trial.

I’ve long dismissed all rumors of a 7-inch iPad Mini (iNotepad or whatever else it may be called), based solely on this past public statement by Steve Jobs that 7-inchers were no good. Period.

Everybody’s favorite endless running game Temple Run has completed one year since its launch on iOS. In this time, the game has been downloaded over 100 million times, including downloads on Android. People have played over 10 billion sessions so far and spent close to 54,000 years combined running from evil monkeys.

The game has also received an update on iOS, which brings the version number to 1.5. In this update, the game adds Retina display support for the iPad, along with 22 new objectives and a new powerup called PermaWings that can be enabled at the start of the level and stays on permanently until you die, at which point it automatically resurrects you. Just yesterday Microsoft announced Windows 8 is finally ready and released to manufacturing. Today its Enterprise N version is all over the torrent servers.

Metro has been Microsoft’s code name for the user interface that they debuted with the Zune HD back in 2009 and has been a major part of their UI design language in Windows Phone as well as the upcoming Windows 8 desktop operating system.

Well, the UI isn’t going anywhere but the name is. Microsoft has stopped using the Metro name for the UI effective immediately and has also asked the developers to stop using it in their apps. The reason for this sudden change is rumored to be due to legal issues with a German company over the name. Read more »

The popular CyanogenMod ROM modding scene has officially dropped support for a wide array of devices running on the dated Snapdragon S1 chipset.

This means that devices running on the Qualcomm QSD8x50, MSM7x25, MSM7x27 and MSM7x27T SoCs will not see any builds beyond Cyanogen 7.x, which is based on Gingerbread. Or in plain words, no Ice Cream Sandwich by CyanogenMod. Read more »

Dead Trigger is available for download free of charge on the Apple App Store. After the tough decision was made for Android a while back, now Madfinger Games has decided to do the same for iOS.

Google released a cloud-based version of their Google Wallet app, which lets you use any credit or debit card by either Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.

Google Wallet itself is still a very exclusive app that is available only on select devices, like the Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet, the Galaxy S III, etc., and only in select countries. Read more »
