If you’ve been keeping track of our homepage you probably know that we are busy handling the LG Optimus G and putting its new Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, True HD Plus screen and 13 megapixel camera though various tests.
We now got the first benchmark results from the smartphone and they show that the 1.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU and Adreno 320 GPU ticking inside the beast are every bit as impressive as we hoped. Read more »
It’s raining full-frame cameras this month and everyone and their dog is releasing a model with a full-frame sensor inside. So how can Leica stay away from all the fun? So they have announced not one but two cameras in their classic rangefinder style with full-frame sensors inside.
The Leica M features a full-frame 35mm 24 megapixel CMOS sensor. More importantly, the Leica M is the first Leica rangefinder to feature a Live View mode as well as 1080p video recording. You also get Live View Zoom and Live View Focus Peaking for precise focusing on the subject. The Leica M also has a 3-inch, 920k dot LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Read more »
The quad-core Krait CPU might be the LG Optimus G feature that’s making all the headlines, but we shouldn’t also forget that the smartphone comes with a 13 megapixel camera with a brand new 5-element lens, specially designed for its sensor.
We were able to snap a couple of photos with the LG Optimus G and we are rushing to share them with you. The lighting was far from perfect, but the LG flagship still did pretty well for a smartphone and way better than its modest 1/3.2″ sensor size suggests. Read more »
After all the hype (negative and otherwise) that the Apple iPhone 5 generated recently, it’s only fitting that we hear from the other side of the table.

The iPhone 5 is coming out on Friday and the Gentlemen’s video has arrived just in time for the smartphone’s launch.
The parody promo video is shot in the familiar spirit of Apple’s promos and adds tons of humor at the expense of the iOS flagship. If you are not familiar, those are the same guys who did the viral promo of the iPhone 4 two years ago. Read more »
This year the annual “iPhone camping” started eight full days before the new iPhone 5 actually becomes available in stores. The line at the Fifth Avenue store in New York is already pretty long and has some colorful characters.
The first two people in line Hazem Sayed, 54, and Sage, 31, are working together and are using the opportunity to promote their location-based social app, Vibe. Read more »
Few days ago we saw Nikon announce their smallest and lightest entry level full-frame camera, the D600, at the $2100 price point. Now, Canon has announced a rival in the form of the EOS 6D, their own smallest and lightest entry-level full-frame DSLR selling for the exact same price.
The Canon 6D uses a 36 x 24mm CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 megapixels. It’s lower than the 24.3 megapixels on the D600 sensor but since the sensors are of the same size, it should theoretically give the Canon an advantage in low light situations, as the individual pixels are larger and thus will collect more light. If there’s one thing Gameloft’s good at, it’s consistently bringing console quality games to the small screen. Some of these are perhaps too close to some of the console titles out there, close enough to be labelled as clones, but for those who want to experience some of the audio visual glory that they are used to seeing on the big screen in the palm of their hands, these games have rarely disappointed.
The newest title to fit this description is Wild Blood. The first Gameloft game to feature the exceptional Unreal Engine, Wild Blood promises gory hack and slash action with stunning visuals that the engine is known for. Let’s see how well it manages to do that. Read more »
Well, that one surely didn’t take long, guys! With the world still gushing with emotions over the Apple iPhone 5 launch, Samsung released an ad for its Galaxy S III smartphone, which aims right at Apple’s latest and greatest offering.
Under the slogan you see above, which gently (or not?) refers to the employees in the Apple stores, Samsung have listed a spec for spec comparison between the US Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5. Read more »
A situation arose yesterday where Acer’s plans to announce a smartphone in China based on Alibaba’s Aliyun operating systems were brought to a screeching halt when Google threatened to basically kick Acer out of the Open Handset Alliance if it chose to go ahead with the Aliyun phone. There seems to be a lot misinformation about this situation so let’s go through it and see what really happened.
First of all, the Open Handset Alliance is a consortium of 84 companies and was started by Google. Together these companies build and develop what we know as Android. Members get to have access to the full Android experience and use it to their liking as long as the final product is still compatible with the Android ecosystem. You don’t need to be a part of this alliance to use Android, it’s open source after all, but if you’re part of the alliance you have to play by its rules. Read more »
JAYS of Sweden brings a rare, but welcome Scandinavian approach to personal audio products. The Stockholm-based company offers headphones which along with being well-made, sport an affordable price.
Quite frankly, my only experience with Scandianavian-flavored headphones has been trying out Bang & Olufsen headphones in a store. The goodies from the Danish company are well known for their quality and design, but also come with hefty price tag. In the case of JAYS of Sweden, I got a chance to try out the a-JAYS One+ and the a-JAYS Four. Both headsets are priced slightly above the $50 range, which was enough to get me curious. Read more »
