LG Optimus G benchmarks arrive, make quad-core competitions blush

If you’ve been keeping track of our homepage you probably know that we are busy handling the LG Optimus G and putting its new Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, True HD Plus screen and 13 megapixel camera though various tests.

We now got the first benchmark results from the smartphone and they show that the 1.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU and Adreno 320 GPU ticking inside the beast are every bit as impressive as we hoped.

The LG Optimus G’s new quad-core CPU flexed its muscle in the BenchmarkPi trial. The new architecture blew its quad-core competitors out of the water, posting a score of 285ms.

  • HTC One X (Tegra 3)

  • Samsung Galaxy S III
    344
  • LG Optimus 4X HD
    350
  • Meizu MX 4-core
    362

The real shock came when we run the Linpack benchmark, which is designed to make use of multi-core CPUs. The Optimus G came so far ahead of its competitors here, that it’s almost hard to believe. It offered nearly three times the performance of the second-best quad-core smartphone we’ve tested on this occasion.

To learn more about the overall performance of the LG Optimus G, we run the well familiar Quadrant benchmark, which tests everything from memory speed to GPU power. The LG Optimus G got the incredible score of 7439, which is way better than any smartphone has managed before. Impressive indeed.

We managed to run the SunSpider Javascript benchmark on the LG Optimus G. Even though the software of the test unit we had wasn’t finalized it already proved faster than the Optimus 4X HD (running on the latest 4.0.4-based firmware). We assume that once LG is done with the i-dotting and t-crossing the Optimus G should take the lead in the browsing performance department as well.
