Two protective cases for Motorola Nexus 6 are now available in the Google Play store. Both accessories are designed and manufactured by Case Mate.

Moto 360 with metal bands now available for $299

The Moto 360 smartwatch has been out for a while, but so far only in the iteration that comes with leather straps. That all changes today, though, since Motorola has officially announced that two models with metal bands are now available to purchase.

You’ll need to pay a $50 premium for the metal, however. Whereas the leather 360 costs $249, the metal models retail for $299. Right now you can order either a light or dark Moto 360 with matching metal band from Motorola’s own website. Read more »

Xiaomi might be working on its own $163 action camera to rival GoPro and HTC’s Re

According to the latest rumors out of China, Xiaomi has a new product in the pipeline, though this isn’t a smartphone as you may expect. Apparently the company wants to get into the action cam market, for whatever reason.

Amazon Echo is a Bluetooth speaker that’s also a personal assistant

Not convinced to stop experimenting by its less than stellar Fire phone sales, Amazon has introduced a new product today. It’s called Echo, and it’s a Bluetooth speaker, which also packs Siri, Google Now, or Cortana-like personal assistant functionality.

That’s definitely a combo no one’s ever tried before, though we may soon find out that there might have been a reason for that. Anyway, you can’t say Amazon isn’t trying to come up with new product categories. Read more »

HTC Weather app makes it to the Play Store

Continuing a recent trend, HTC has published yet another of its apps on the Google Play Store. We’re talking built-in apps which normally come preinstalled on the company’s devices, such as the One (M8) flagship. And the latest app to be made available in the Play Store is HTC Weather.

It does exactly what you’d expect it to – show you weather information and forecasts (up to seven days in advance), with details about temperature, humidity, real-feel temperature, wind speed, visibility, as well as sunrise and sunset times. Read more »

Microsoft launches Office for Android tablets preview, updates iPhone and iPad apps

Microsoft announced today a preview for its Office for Android tablets, while also updating the suite’s iPad and iPhone apps.

Android tablet owners can opt-in to participate by filling out a short survey. Eligible users should be using an Android tablet running Android 4.4 KitKat with a size between 7″ and 10.1″. Read more »

Sony demoes early build of Android 5.0 Lollipop on Xperia’s Z1 through Z3

Sony has committed to bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Xperia Z family and today it revealed the first step – an early development version of the new OS running the Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3.

New wrist straps let you change the look of the Samsung Gear S

The Samsung Gear S is available only in Black or White but now the you can add a splash of color to it with five Wrist Straps. There’s also the Bangle Strap, which only comes in black and white, but is wider than the original strap, so it still gives the smartwatch a makeover.

The Wrist Straps have narrow bands that go around the body of the Gear S watch so they add color to its otherwise black face (even the White model has a black front panel). Read more »

Opera Mini 9 for iOS brings video compression to eliminate buffering

Samsung is looking for applications for its bendy Super AMOLED screens and while it was mostly for show on the Galaxy Round, the Galaxy Note Edge challenges the rule of flat-screened UI of smartphones with its unique Edge screen.

The right side of the screen bends around to the side of the device and while it’s technically a part of the screen, it acts as a separate, utility screen. Read more »

Samsung Gear S finally arrives in the UK on November 7
