MediaTek announced its latest true octa-core MT6592 chip last week and now the company has teamed up with Gameloft to showcase what the hardware is capable of.
More specifically, Gameloft has enhanced its Modern Combat 5 shooting game to take advantage of MediaTek’s latest octa-core CPU. Because of the additional oomph, the game maker is capable of adding a lot more textures, visual candy and effects to the gaming engine. Read more »

The next generation console war has officially begun and by the looks of it, it is off to a great start. After Sony announced last week that they sold over a million PS4 in the first 24 hours of launch, it’s now Microsoft’s turn to brag.
Turns out, the Xbox One also sold over a million units in the first 24 hours of the console going on sale. According to Microsoft, this is the biggest launch in the Xbox history. Read more »
Serial opener of things iFixit is at it again with its screwdrivers and pryers, this time making the brand new Xbox One the victim of their tools. iFixit managed to get their hands on an Xbox One as soon as possible by flying to New Zealand where it launched before anywhere else to do this teardown.
The Xbox One teardown reveal some interesting things. First of all, the Xbox One is an enormous black box due to the rather poor utilization of space on the inside. Whereas Sony decided to make use of every inch on the inside, Microsoft went for a more spaced out design. Read more »
Sony has acknowledged the “blue light of death” issue among the newly released PlayStation 4 consoles. Sony America promises to replace every dead PlayStation 4 plagued by the defect.

Humble Bundle has released a new bundle for Android and it includes some great games. Among the standard list of games is the third person shooter EPOCH known for its intuitive cover shooting mechanism and superb visuals thanks to the Unreal Engine 3. Then there is rymdkapsel, which we reviewed a while back on iOS, that is an amazing little tower defense game.
Other games part of the standard bundle are Spell Tower, which is a popular and addictive word game and Swordigo, a side scrolling 3D hack and slash action game making its debut on Android. Read more »
OUYA will be releasing a new limited edition of its Android console. It’s a brand new white version and will double the internal storage up to 16GB.

We reviewed Ridiculous Fishing back when it was released on iOS earlier this year. The game features simple 8-bit graphics with an addictive gameplay that made it one of the best titles on the platform.
The developer Vlambeer has announced that they are now working on an Android port of the game. According to their blog post, the port is almost done and they will be announcing it shortly but no release date or pricing has been mentioned so far. Sony managed an amazing achievement with its latest PlayStation 4 console topping 1 million sales in the first 24 hours. With the console being available only in the US and Canada for now, the figure sounds even more impressive.
The PlayStation 4 will have its wider rollout on November 29, when it’s going to hit Europe and Australia. Sony expects to sell as many as 3 million units of the console by the end of the year. Read more »
Although Gameloft is known more for its Asphalt series of arcade racing games, there is also the lesser known GT Racing, which was more geared towards those who prefer simulation racing.
Several years after the launch of the original game, Gameloft has now released a sequel called GT Racing 2. The latest installment ups the ante in terms of cars, tracks, visuals and pretty much everything else and just like the original is free to play. Anyone who owns a PS3 and has not played Uncharted has done themselves a great disservice. Easily one of the best series on the PS3 and one of the best series of all time, the Uncharted games have won hearts and awards by their exceptional gameplay, storytelling, voice acting and visuals.

Gameloft has released their latest hit game, Asphalt 8: Airborne, on two new platforms. Launched initially on iOS and Android, the game is now also available on Windows Phone 8 and even Windows 8.1.
We reviewed Asphalt 8 when it was initially released and found it to be pretty enjoyable, although in some ways, not as much as its predecessor, which is still a really fun game. Having said that, Asphalt 8 is a marked improvement in terms of visuals and should be great on Windows 8.1 with a powerful desktop GPU (it wasn’t very smooth on mobile). Read more »
Sony has released a new PlayStation App for iOS and Android devices, designed to help you connect with your PS4 console from anywhere. With this app you can see your PlayStation Network friends, see what they are playing, compare trophies and also chat with them.
You can also receive notifications, game alerts and invitations on the app and can use your phone as a mobile keyboard to enter text on your PS4, much better than doing it through the controller. Read more »
