Nintendo is certainly not in the most favorable of positions right now. Following the price cut of its unsuccessful Wii U gaming console, a report by Japanese news outlet Nikkei suggests the company may be looking to expand its business to Android games.
Currently, Nintendo’s strategy is to release self-made games only for its consoles, but not for anyone else’s. The report cites a source that’s previously been accurate about Nintendo’s plans, who claims that in 2014 the Japanese company will release “minigames” for Android phones. Read more »
Microsoft has acquired the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games (Unreal Engines, Unreal series, Gears of War series, Infinity Blade series) for an undisclosed amount.
Now that the series is owned by Microsoft, the software giant has assigned the young Black Tusk studio to develop the next generation Gears of War game. Naturally it will be an Xbox One exclusive. Read more »
Rockstar had launched the mobile version of its critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game on iOS and Android platforms a while ago and now, the gaming firm has released the action packed title for Windows Phone.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an upcoming third person action adventure game by publisher Warner Bros. and developer Monolith Productions. The game is set in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe and takes place between the Hobbit and the trilogy books.
In this gameplay walkthrough, we get a good look at what we can expect in terms of gameplay when the game is released later this year on the PC and consoles. You play as Talion, a ranger of Gondor and Guardian of the Black Gate who lost everyone who knew at the hands of Sauron and his minions. The game is a third person action adventure and borrows quite a bit from some other games such as the Assassin’s Creed series and the Batman Arkham series but with several new gameplay features as well. Sony has a history of releasing bite-sized iterations of their popular gaming consoles that perform better, are quieter, and consume less power. So when the Japanese hardware manufacturer announced it will reveal its “slimmest” Playstation device ever, one might assume that they would announce a trimmed down Playstation 3.

Rockstar Games is irritatingly quiet on the subject of a PC version of its Grand Theft Auto V game, but as an Amazon listing indicates, the wait of PC enthusiasts may soon be over.
Amazon Germany has posted a listing for the game, which hints that an official announcement may soon be upon us. Released in September last year for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the game has become a major hit with more than 11.21 million copies. Read more »
Disney has made Where’s My Mickey? free on iOS for a limited time. The game has been free on Windows Phone along with a few other Disney games for a while now but this is the first time it has gone free on iOS.
Where’s My Mickey? is quite similar to Where’s My Water? and Where’s My Perry? but features Disney’s iconic character Mickey Mouse instead. There are also some amusing short animation clips between levels that set this game apart from the other two. We reviewed this game back when it was released and found it to be quite entertaining. The Nintendo Wii U got its price significantly cut on Amazon UK and Argos following the company’s financial report, which revealed catastrophic sale figures.
The 32GB Wii U Premium Pack now costs £,180 slashed from £300. The significant price cut means that Nintendo is selling the console on a thinner margin and perhaps even at loss, hoping to make some money back from increased game sales. Read more »
Capcom has released a remastered version of the popular Resident Evil 4 game for the PC. The new version features improved visuals with widescreen support and sharpened text and textures and runs at HD resolution at 60fps.
Resident Evil 4 first debuted on the GameCube back in 2005 and was later ported over to the PS2. Both version received a lot of praise from critics, making it one of the top rated games in history. The game was later ported over to the PC back in 2007 but poor visuals and terrible controls made the game nearly unplayable. Read more »

In a recently posted story on Microsoft’s site, the designer of the Xbox One, Carl Ledbetter, revealed that it took 75 prototypes before Microsoft settled on the current console’s design.
75 3D-printed models were made of the system, 100 just for the kinect camera, and over 200 for the Xbox’s controller. It just goes to show how much thought goes into not only the technical specs of a console, but its aesthetics as well.
Ledbetter says that the goal of designing the latest iteration of Microsoft’s popular console was to blend classic Xbox looks with the idea that the system would be an “always on” multimedia powerhouse. Read more »
