A handheld Steam system is in the works

Did you ever dream of your very own “Steamboy”; playing your steam titles on a portable device that fits right in the palms of your hands?

Well Steamboy Machine is working on making this a possibility.

Looking like a Steam controller prototype, the “Steamboy” will be rocking 4GB RAM and a quad-core processor (unspecified type). It should have a 5″ display, with Steam’s touchpad controls sitting on each side of the screen.

The creators’ mentioned that the device “won’t be as powerful” as other Steam Machines, but that should be expected, given that it is a portable gaming console, after all. There’s also been mention of 3G connectivity being built-into the device, along with 32GB of storage.

There’s not much more information available on the Steamboy, and all the development team has provided on the device is a cool-looking teaser video, which you can see below.

The handheld console has a slated release date for 2015, and even though it’ll only be capable of playing the lower-intensity titles out of the Steam library, it still has the potential to be one of the more compelling portable gaming devices on the market.

Would you be interested in picking up one of these bad boys?
