After the wildly popular Angry Birds series of games, developer Rovio is back with a brand new game for iOS and Android called Amazing Alex. The new title involves creating Rube Goldberg apparatuses and solving puzzles.

The game is based upon the popular The Incredible Machine series of games for Windows desktops. This is what you have to do: every level has several fixed objects arranged on screen in a particular order. You also have extra objects available at your disposal that you can place at various points on the screen. The goal of the game is to use all of these objects to set off a chain reaction and move certain objects to a designated position. Read more »

Another top-shelf Android smartphone has joined AT&T’s LTE ranks, people. Beginning tomorrow, the Motorola Atrix HD will become the third Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 equipped powerhouse offered by the carrier, which means that it has never been a better time to be a prospective Android smartphone buyer.

The Motorola Atrix HD features two Krait CPU cores, clocked at 1.5GHz and Adreno 225 GPU. Read more »

Welcome to the age of the quad-core Android behemoths! As it happens, there are currently just four of them in existence and we have all of them in our office ready to flex some multi-core muscle.

The smartphones in question, as most of you probably know, are the Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X, Meizu MX 4-core and the LG Optimus 4X HD. They all have some serious processing power from Samsung and Nvidia at their hearts, using the Exynos 4 quad and Tegra 3 chipsets. But which one is the best? We are all well aware by now that the combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 chipset and LTE network connectivity do not bode well for the battery life of a smartphone. Throw in the Sony Xperia ion’s HD screen in the mix, and its easy to guess that the 1900mAh non-removable battery has a lot to deal with.

From staring at a black, pixellated line that was supposed to be a snake to impressive high definition 3D graphics being powered by equally impressive multi-core processors, mobile gaming has come a long way in the past ten years. Today, we are going to take a look at a game that falls firmly in the latter category, called Dead Trigger.

Dead Trigger is developed by Madfinger Games, the same people who have given us the excellent Shadowgun and Samurai II: Vengeance. Dead Trigger is a first person shooter that involves everyone’s favorite pastime, shooting zombies in the face. Read more »

The third installment of the popular HTC DROID Incredible series for Verizon Wireless has come upon us, bearing one of the longest names we’ve encountered to date. Unlike its predecessor, which was a marginal improvement over the original however, the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE is a proper, pocket-friendly powerhouse.

Where’s My Perry? is the latest game from Disney for iOS and Android. The game is based on the previous and highly popular title Where’s My Water? but uses modified gameplay mechanics and different characters to warrant its existence as a separate game.

Where’s My Perry? stars Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P from the Disney animated show Phineas and Ferb. Now those of you who are not six years-old would probably not recognize him but apparently he’s quite popular among the kids, which is why Disney chose to make an entire game around the character. LG Optimus Vu is almost a tablet, but it has voice calling functionality and qualifies for our full battery test. It’s a big device, so there’s room for a big battery but there’s also a big huge power-hungry screen to consider – let’s see how these two things balance each other out.

It’s a little disappointing to find out that the Optimus Vu has only a 2080mAh battery – even the 4X HD had a 2150 mAh juice pack. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 is in our office for the second time, and this time it will stay for a full review. The Ace 2 is part of a new breed of dual-core phones – slotted above the single-cores but below last year’s flagship dual-cores. Another example of such phone would be the Sony Xperia U.

Actually, both of these phones are based on the ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset, but the Galaxy Ace 2 has an unusual (for a dual-core) clock speed of 800MHz. On the upside, it has more RAM – 768MB – and a microSD card slot in addition to the 4GB of built-in memory. Read more »

The LG Optimus 4X HD uses NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chipset, featuring a special power-saving CPU core which NVIDIA made a lot of noise about. Couple that with a large 2150mAh battery and the Optimus 4X HD should be more than simply adequate in terms of battery life, right?

The HTC One X has similar specs (Tegra 3, 4.7″ 720p LCD), but a smaller battery (1800mAh), so it didn’t quite top our charts even with the above-mentioned extra core. Read on to find out if the LG will do. Read more »

The AT&T exclusive Sony Xperia ion was the talk of CES six months ago. Developed specifically with the lucrative US market in mind, the handset one ups its sibling, the Sony Xperia S on a couple of major occasions – it packs a bigger screen and offers expandable memory. Boy, were we itching to get our hands on it when we saw it break cover.

When we reviewed the Nokia 808 PureView a lot of our time was spent on the camera. Now that the review is done, we’ve had time to test out the battery – it’s a fine balance between Symbian’s low requirements and the relatively small 1400mAh battery.

The 808 PureView is far from the most compact phone around, so it’s natural to think that Nokia could have fit a bigger battery. But maybe they didn’t need to, find out after the jump. Read more »

The Google Nexus 7 tablet is finally official and it’s time to see if it can do the job it’s meant for – be a real-world alternative to the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

The Android tablet manufacturers (except for Asus and its Transformer prime) learned the hard way that their tablets need to be as affordable as possible to gain some traction. Amazon led the way pricing its Kindle Fire at $199 and made a huge impact, but eight months later there has only been one slate to come close to its price point, while still offering decent hardware – the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The phablet market came as a bit of a surprise – no one expected the Note to sell as well as it did. Now that the class gained traction, though, the LG Optimus Vu, has big dreams for its future.
