The Sony Xperia P packs a special screen with WhiteMagic technology, which promises a lot of power-saving – up to 50% Sony says. But the other variable we need to consider here is the battery – and its meager 1305mAh capacity.
So, the screen may seem well suited to display web sites (which are predominantly white) with its white subpixels, but the battery is smaller than the one on a Samsung Galaxy S, which came out two years ago with a similarly-sized screen and a single core chipset. Read more »

It’s becoming a bit of a trend this – using nails and hammers on smartphones. After the Nokia Lumia 900 display took some really painful hits, a guy from Russia decided that his HTC One X could do a lot better and decided to skip the hammer part all together.

Compared to its predecessor‘s 1500 mAh battery, the one found in the LG Optimus 3D Max P720 has received a rather modest 20 mAh bump in capacity. Interestingly enough, a year ago we would have considered a 1520 mAh battery as a large one by any standard. Today however, it appears downright insufficient, especially when there’s a 3D screen waiting to be powered.

Australian maker Kogan is joining the super cheap tablet race with the Agora 10 tablet. The slate boasts Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 10″ XGA screen, HDMI port and more for just $179 (not sure if Australian dollars or US, but they’re about the same). Most other bargain tablets are 7″, so getting a 10″ tablet at such a low price does sound appealing.
Of course, there are tradeoffs to be made – the Kogan Agora 10 is powered by a single-core Cortex-A8 CPU running at 1.2GHz, but it does have 1GB of RAM. Read more »
Samsung has stepped up its game with Music Hub, now offering unlimited streaming of your music and access to a library of over 19 million songs for 10 euro a month.
