Windows Phone 8 devices are already out there battling the droid gang for a piece of the smartphone market. But some of the early Windows Phone adopters don’t plan to abandon their WP7 devices just yet.

HTC just announced the DROID DNA for Verizon – a 5-incher droid with a super impressive 1080p display and a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait processor.

Apple just suffered another setback in its court war against Samsung in the UK. After the Cupertino-based company was ordered to issue a statement saying Samsung did not infringe the design patents, the company is now forced to pay Samsung’s legal fees on an indemnity basis.

As you might remember, Apple wrote what the court ordered them to say, but added that other courts around the world did not agree with the UK court’s decision. As expected, Apple was ordered to retract this statement and issue a new one. Read more »

Amazon has just launched the Cloud Drive Photos app in the Google Play Store. It’s free and can be installed on any device running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread or higher.

With this app you can easily upload photos from your Android devices and computers to the Amazon cloud. You can also easily share those photos to various social services, via email, etc. Read more »

Android was first to introduce pull-down notifications, to be later adopted by iOS too, and now Windows Phone is about to follow suit.

Windows Phone 8 now has USB mass storage mode under its belt, along with DirectX graphics support, among other new services and integrations, but it seems a notification center is to land soon too via an upcoming update. Read more »

Google Drive has been updated with a few new features. They are supposed to make the Google’s cloud storage service more popular and hopefully steal some users from the leading Dropbox.

The Wireless Association (CTIA) has announced the US database for stolen phones is now up and running. In case a phone gets in there it won’t be allowed to connect to any of the US networks.

The participating carriers in the database are AT&T, Cellcom, Nex-Tech Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless. They already deployed their IMEI databases of stolen phones and the merge should be completed within a year. Read more »

As per tradition Apple has released a promotion video for its newly announced iPad mini.

The smaller 7.9-inch slate shares its chipset and screen resolution of the iPad 2, but adds a 5MP rear camera and the new Lightning port. The video tells more about those as well as the other cool bits of the compact tablet. Read more »

Microsoft is getting ready to launch Windows 8 this Thursday, October 25. With the premiere just around the corner, Skype has finally announced its plans for the Metro UI/Modern UI/Touch UI or whatever Microsoft wants to call it app.

Earlier this year the High Court in London ruled in favor of Samsung and dismissed the Apple’s claims the Galaxy Tabs copied the iPad’s design. The judge went even further ordering Apple to advertise the court’s decision for a month in various websites.

Since the iPhone 5 launch it became clear the new and way expensive Lightning cable packs some sort of a security chip inside and because of that – the cheap Chinese knock-off cables won’t work.
