HTC has posted today on both its Twitter and Facebook pages that its customers concerns are heard and the company is reviewing its locked bootloader policy.
A locked bootloader means you get stuck on whatever software the provider gives you and you can’t go for that custom ROM magic everyone seems to love so much. It’s like buying a PC and getting stuck with Windows without the option to change to Fedora or Ubuntu (or whatever), only worse. Read more »
The creator of the Modular computer, Xi3 is going to be the first company to bring the Chrome OS to the desktop realm, using a revamped version of it, called ChromiumPC.
The Xi3 Modular computer can easily fit in your hand as it’s really small and houses three interconnected modules – one for the processor as well as primary and secondary I/O modules. The whole thing is encased in an aluminum body, which might to us bears slight resemblance to a toaster, but is certainly among the world’s smallest desktop PC. Read more »
Angry Birds Rio is the third installment of the popular game by Rovio. iOS users already got an update to Rio with some Beach Volley action, but now it’s Android users turn.
The update is out for Android and it started off with the Amazon app store at first, but has quickly moved on to the stock Android Market. Read more »
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play CDMA will hit Verizon e-shops pretty soon as the telecom has issued an online pre-order page. The Play can be yours for $199 on a two year contract or $499 retail.

Remember when AT&T banned installation of apps from third-party markets on their phones and users were effectively left without access to the Amazon store, not to mention custom installs off a memory card? No? Well it happened and all of AT&T’s Android smartphone were declined access to the new app store. Now it seems that AT&T is “rethinking” and will allow installation of third-party apps on its future Android phones, starting with the Samsung Infuse 4G.
The things is here, AT&T doesn’t address whether older droids will get the same treatment via a software update or will be left in the dark. It would be unfair if they don’t. We can only assume only new phones will be able to install third-party apps, judging by this memo AT&T sent to developers. Read more »

It’s been a long and tedious ride back to online-hood for the PSN but it seems that it’s finally getting up and running. The amount of countries where the PSN is operational again is huge and ranges across 5 continents. Along these are Europe, Australia, parts of Asia and South and North America.
The other bit of news is that Japan, PSN’s homeland, has refused to turn the ‘ON’ switch on the network until assurance has been made that the necessary precautions and counter-hacking measures have been taken. Read more »

Today Nokia has released the dedicated LinkedIn app for free for Symbian smartphones. It’s the social network for professionals and business contacts out there.

T-Mobile’s G2, or HTC Desire Z as we know it on our side of the pond, will be getting an official OTA update to the latest Android version – Gingerbread – much like its European cousin.
Improvements included are some UI refinements, a 3G/4G indication in the place of the “H” at the notification bar, improved text input and power management (we’re guessing Power saving mode here). Read more »
