The 1.4GHz quad-core CPU that powers the Asus Transformer Prime sure sounds promising, but the real question is how much of a performance boost it brings. And, as it turns out, the answer is a lot. About two times, to be specific.
As it turns out, the Tegra 3 chipset isn’t all talk and no action – that thing is blazing fast. The Transformer Prime score appeared in the results browser of the AnTuTu benchmark and it’s more than twice higher than that of the Tegra 2-powered Motorola Xoom. Read more »
The Samsung Galaxy S II is certainly one of the snappiest smartphones around, but there’s no such thing as a too fast CPU. That’s why the XDA community stepped in and pushed the clock speed of the CPU of the T-Mobile version of the smartphone to the mind-blowing 1.8 GHz.
The exact CPU frequency that was achieved is actually 1.836 GHz. The kernel used to achieve this kind of speed is publicly available and you can try it on your Galaxy S II, if you dare. Read more »
Google is continuing to add new features to its Google+ social network as it tries to upset the Facebook dominance in the online social service realm. The search giant just announced that it’s improving the Google+ integration of two of its other popular products – the YouTube video sharing service and the Chrome browser.
You’ll notice a new YouTube button at the top right of your Google+ page. Once you move your mouse over it a search field will pop up and you can look for a video to play. The video itself plays in a pop-up window, but you get the controls for it right on the Google+ page so you don’t need to switch tabs all the time. Read more »
Apparently, we don’t even need to have the smartphone on the market for a root solution to appear. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is two weeks away from making any official sales, but a MoDaCo forum member already knows how to root it.
There’s even a handy tutorial in case you want to try that with your own Galaxy Nexus. Oh, right – you don’t have one yet. Well if you plan on getting one, you might want to bookmark the source link below. Read more »
We got an interesting tip from one of our readers, about the upcoming Sony Ericsson flagship. The handset, which he refers to as Sony Ericsson Arc HD (though the final name will probably be different) is said to come with a 720p screen (that’s 1280 x 720 pixels) and support FullHD video recording.
A pretty cool feature of the Sony Ericsson (or just Sony, if the deal goes through before the announcement) Xperia Arc HD will be the option to capture full-res still shots while recording video. That would allow you to capture the most interesting moments of your videos in full resolution without interrupting the videos themselves. Read more »
It appears that the Android Market is going to grow another checkout option. The PayPal support that we’ve been hearing about for quite some time now is finally going to land in Android’s official app repository.
The evidence for this was found in the source code of the latest Android Market app, which repeatedly mentions PayPal. And if the code is already there we guess Google will be putting it to use quite soon. Read more »
Just as promised, today Rockstar released the first trailer for its hotly anticipated GTA V (that’s five) game. The trailer doesn’t reveal too much about the gameplay of the upcoming action title, but gives us a rough idea of the kind of graphics we’ll be getting.
The story in GTA V will take place in the fictional city of Los Santos in California (Vinehood is in the neighbourhood too). Ok, it’s not the real Los Angeles, but I doubt this will steer too many people away from the game – real city or not, this one is still high on the wish list for millions of gamers around the globe. The Nokia N9 internals are not exactly a secret as the service manual of the MeeGo flagship leaked a few months ago, but now we have something better for you. Some Russian dude dissected the smartphone on video and if you have a strong stomach you may check it out after the break.

Still, if you insist on fixing it yourself or you are just one of those guys who like messing with their gadgets all the time, you’d certain find this video useful. Read more »

We’ve got some good news and some bad news to those of you owning or planning to purchase a Windows Phone smartphone without a Nokia logo on it. The good news is that the Finns will be making their Nokia Maps service available to all WP devices, no matter the manufacturer.
The bad news is that the voice-guided navigation will remain an exclusive feature of the Nokia Lumia lineup at least for the time being. The voice-guided navigation is available through a separate app (Nokia Drive) on Windows Phone, instead of being integrated into the Maps and that separate app won’t be making its way to the Windows Marketplace. Google has updated the user interface of Gmail, making the popular email service even more attractive. The new UI design adds contacts images to your conversation so you can easily identify the sender of each message and lets you choose the spacing between the elements on the screen.
That makes it easy to customize Gmail for different screen sizes and resolutions. The Gmail devs have also collaborated with iStockphoto and have created new HD themes, if you are into that kind of stuff. Read more »
