Falcon Pro developer creates Hacked, world’s first mobile coding game

Developer of the Falcon Pro app for Android, a popular Twitter app that was pulled from the Play Store after it hit Twitter’s token limit, has made a new game called Hacked. Hacked is not your average game though. It’s the world’s first mobile coding game.

Hacked has three gameplay modes. In the story mode, you play as a hacker and solve code problems. You use the game’s custom code keyboard and a new coding language ‘H’ to solve the problems. Read more »

‘Goat Simulator’ for iOS and Android game review

Goat Simulator is a third person simulation game featuring, well, a goat. If that sounds silly that’s because it’s supposed to be. The game was made sort of as a parody of all the simulation games that came out in the last couple of years on Steam. Despite the nature of the game, it ended up being quite popular.

NVIDIA Shield Tablet with 4G LTE and 32GB of storage now on pre-order

The NVIDIA Shield Tablet has been available for many weeks now, but so far only in a 16GB Wi-Fi-only iteration. A 32GB version with support for 4G LTE networks has been promised, and starting today you can pre-order it.

It will set you back $399, which is $100 more than the model that comes with less storage and sans high-speed data connectivity. Read more »

Microsoft buys the company that made Minecraft for $2.5 billion

Microsoft has purchased gaming company Mojang, the creators of Minecraft, for the cool $2.5 billion. The company shares that its partnership with the game maker began when the two discussed the Xbox One version of the game.

Since Minecraft’s launch in 2009, it has been downloaded by more than 100 million users. As Xbox boss Phil Spencer states, Microsoft will continue to make Minecraft available across non-PC and Xbox platforms, such as iOS, Android and PlayStation. Read more »

‘BioShock’ for iOS game review

BioShock needs very little introduction. If you have been playing video games for the past decade or so, you would have heard about it far too many times by now and most probably played it back when it released on the PC and consoles in 2007.

GTA V arrives on PS4 and Xbox One on November 18, PC only in 2015

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V will finally be out on November 18. There’s a big caveat, though: this release date only applies for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. In case you want to play it on a PC, you’ll unfortunately have to wait until January 27, 2015.

That represents quite the delay, as previously Rockstar said all three versions would be out this fall. Alas, that won’t be the case. Read more »

Cisco launches Android game in which you fight against virtual malware

Cisco is known for its networking gear, of course, but it seems like the company is now looking to branch out into other things as well. Specifically in this case – games for Android. Net Invaders is such a title that Cisco has released into the Play Store today.

In Net Invaders, you have to protect the “Cisco security island” from being attacked by worms, trojans, viruses, and spyware – all while using Cisco security technology. The island is comprised of three areas: the office, the data center, and the mobile workforce. Read more »

Rovio Stars’ Plunder Pirates will be available globally on September 18

Plunder Pirates, an iPhone and iPad game made by Midoki and published by Rovio Stars, was launched back in June. However, so far it’s only been available in Canada. Thankfully, that’s set to change next week.

On September 18, Plunder Pirates will get a global release. That said, we’re still talking iPhone and iPad only – there’s currently no information on whether an Android version will ever be made. Read more »

OUYA in acquisition talk with Chinese companies

After failing to make any dent whatsoever in the gaming market, OUYA has now looking for companies to acquire their business. According to Re/code, the company is in talks with Chinese companies, along with a few others.

OUYA started life as a Kickstarter project and was one of the more successful ones. The $99 Android based gaming console sounded like a good idea in theory but odd decisions such as having their own store, making it compulsory for every game to be free, and the mediocre hardware meant it failed to take off.
