With things already quieting down at IFA, it’s Motorola’s new gadgets that are the talk of the town. The new Moto X supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard and Motorola will be releasing a compatible charger soon, the Turbo Charger.

Alcatel brought out a new Android tablet at IFA, the Alcatel Hero 8. With an 8″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200px) screen it will compete with the likes of the Lenovo Tab S8. The tablet has an aluminum body that’s just 7.3mm thick though (vs. the 7.9mm plastic body of the Lenovo).
The Alcatel Hero 8 is LTE-enabled and supports voice calls. You may want to use the new Sidekick 2, a phone-shaped Bluetooth headset. Read more »
Alongside its long anticipate Moto G2, Moto X+1 and Moto 360, the company also revealed its latest Bluetooth headphone accessory called the Moto Hint.
The Moto Hint, however, doesn’t look anything like the traditional in-ear Bluetooth headset we’ve got used to. It’s very small and subtle in-ear piece, which barely sticks out of your earlobe. Naturally, we were eager to see the compact earbud in action. Read more »
Along with the Moto X, Moto G, and the Moto 360, Motorola also announced the new Moto Hint. It is a tiny Bluetooth headset that plugs into your ear and is barely noticeable.
The main feature of the Moto Hint is being able to control your phone with your voice. Want to call someone, send a message, locate an address, update your Facebook status, or just check the weather? Just say “Ok Google” followed by your query the way you would in Google Now. Read more »
The Motomaker customization service started in the US and in July expanded to Germany. It will continue its European expansion later this month by adding the UK and France to its list of supported countries.

Motorola has announced the successor to its most popular phone to date, the Moto G. Once again, called just the Moto G, the new phone improves mostly upon the display, camera, and speakers over its predecessor while retaining the same great price.
The new Moto G has a 5.0-inch 720p display, compared to the 4.5-inch 720p display on the original Moto G. The phone, just like the new Moto X, is bigger than its predecessor. Read more »
Motorola has finally taken the wraps off the second iteration of its popular Moto X smartphone, called, well, the Moto X. The new Moto X looks similar to the previous one but is bigger and more powerful now.
The new Moto X has a 5.2-inch, 1080p Super AMOLED display, an upgrade over the 4.7-inch 720p display on the original Moto X. This has made the phone go from measuring 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4 mm to 140.8 x 72.4 x 9.97mm. To clarify, that’s bigger than the Nexus 5. The compact size was arguably one of the best features of the original Moto X but that’s not the case anymore. Read more »
Alongside the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and Gear S, Samsung also announced the Gear VR yesterday during its event at IFA Berlin. And today the virtual reality headset developed in partnership with Oculus is already up for pre-order in the UK, believe it or not.
For now only one retailer seems to have it. Mobile Fun specializes in accessories for your devices, and since the Gear VR needs a Note 4 to function it probably qualifies. To be among the first people in the UK to own one of these, you’ll have to shell out £150. Read more »
Not wanting to let other companies have all the device-launching fun these days, HP decided to introduce four new or updated products of its own. First up, we have the new Envy x2, coming to succeed the detachable tablet of the same name that was introduced back in 2012.
The new Envy x2 comes with Intel’s Core M processor, and will get both 13.3″ and 15.6″ screens. The keyboard dock has been redesigned, now coming with a fabric wrapping. Read more »
The AMOLED display-touting Samsung Galaxy Tab S, in its 10.5-inch iteration, is now officially headed to Sprint in the United States.
It will be released by the carrier on September 12. Using Sprint’s Easy Pay installment scheme, you’ll be able to grab one for $0 down (plus tax), then followed by 24 monthly payments of $27.09. That said, you will obviously need to get a service plan for it. Read more »
LG’s round-faced smartwatch running Android Wear, the G Watch R, is due to become available on October 14. The news reportedly comes straight from the Korean company itself.
LG hasn’t yet officially announced pricing for the G Watch R internationally. However, the press release unveiling the new watch for the German market mentioned a recommended retail price of €299. Read more »
Lenovo unveiled the Horizon 2s and Horizon 2e, two tabletop PCs. Both have screens around 20″ big and can work as an All-in-one PC or you can lay it flat on a table so that up to four gamers can use it simultaneously. Yes, gamers, the two Horizons are particularly well inclined to playing games.
The Lenovo Horizon 2s is the slim option of the two. It is 15mm thick and weighs just over 2.2kg, barely a third of the previous Horizon 2 device. Read more »
Lenovo just announced its latest generation smartphones, the updated Lenovo Vibe X2 and Lenovo Vibe Z2. Lenovo has already posted a video up online, showing the unique differentiating features that the Vibe X2 possesses.
The Lenovo Vibe X2 has a 5-inch FullHD screen, a 13MP camera on the back and is only 7.27mm thin. It uses a MediaTek MT6595m True8Core processor and runs Andoird 4.4 KitKat with Lenovo’s custom VIBE UI. Smartwatches are all the rage here at IFA 2014 with Asus, Samsung and Sony getting in the mix and now LG has shown its first rounded smartwatch – the G Watch R.
It has a rounded watch face complete with a 1.3″ rounded POLED (plastic organic light-emitting diode) display, Snapdragon 400 chipset and a battery that will reportedly be able to endure for one day and a half to two days with the always on feature enabled. Read more »
Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Tab Active, a ruggedized version of their Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. The tablet features an anti-shock covering that protects it from drops as high as 1.2m. It is also dust and water resistant with IP67 certificate.
The Galaxy Tab Active has a 8.0-inch, 1280×800 resolution LCD, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal memory with microSD card slot, 3.1 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, C-Pen stylus, 4,450mAh replaceable battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat. Read more »
