New display technologies have a chicken and egg problem – there’s no content for them, because there are no such cameras (because there’s no displays to watch stuff on). It happened to 3D and it may happen to VR – Virtual Reality – unless products like Samsung’s Project Beyond become popular.
Project Beyond shoots 360° 3D panoramic photos and videos, which can then be viewed on the Samsung Gear VR headset.
Microsoft shared that Xbox One sales have reached 10 million following the console’s recent price cut. Sony reached this milestone three months ago with its PlayStation 4.

Six months after unveiling the Simband and SAMI – a wearable with a rich biometric sensor array and its supporting cloud platform – Samsung has unveiled the second generation of Simband. It’s based on the Gear S but will not be sold commercially – instead it’s a development platform that developers can pre-order today.
They can reconfigure the sensor array as needed and even develop their own sensors and algorithms to plug into the system. Samsung has made the Simband and SAMI an open platform to draw in partners and developers.
The YouTube app for iOS and Android has been updated with a new music homepage, which feeds you an endless YouTube Mix based on your favorite music videos.
The new section also contains recommended music playlists based on what you’re into and playlists of trending music across YouTube.
Samsung has announced a new technology called Flow. Well, new would be a bit misleading since it is similar to Continuity that Apple launched with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite.
Flow has three basic features. The Transfer feature lets you push content between your Samsung devices. You can send a document or a web page from your phone to your tablet, start navigating on your phone and then push it to your Gear S, start watching a movie on a tablet and then push it to your Samsung television, etc. You can also start a video call on one device and then continue it on another.
Samsung Gear VR will be available in the United States in the beginning of next month. A special Innovator Edition of the virtual reality gadget will be priced at $199 – in line with past reports. Another $50 will get you a bundled Bluetooth gamepad.

YouTube’s much anticipated subscription service has been officially announced today. It’s called YouTube Music Key, and it will be in beta for an unspecified amount of time.

The Hands-free feature available in the Motorola Moto X, which reads out loud your notifications, is most probably coming to the Nexus series with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
Apparently some users have found the Hands-free option in their Settings menu right after updating to Lollipop, only to disappear as soon as you close the menu.
While the world is waiting for Google to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images for the rest of the Nexus family of devices, they happened to leak for the Nexus 7 (2012). The files are obtained by AndroidPolice and are hosted by Google, so they are the real thing.
The build is LRX21P, similar to the LRX21L and LRX21M builds of the Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, respectively. The tablet will be wiped in the process of flashing Lollipop and you can follow the instructions here to make sure you’re doing a proper job of it.
Note, that you could run into an issue with the bootloader image in the form of a signature mismatch as you are attempting to flash the latest firmware. However, that doesn’t matter as the system.img and boot.img files are those that matter.
