The Pebble smartwatch has been treated with a firmware update, which allows its e-paper display to show notifications in many more languages as now there’s full character support. The Android app also got a new version which allows any app to beam notifications to the Pebble.
Apart from the support for showing notifications in 80 languages, the Pebble can now end ongoing calls, which is definitely useful. General performance and reliability should also be enhanced. Read more »

If you’re into round Android Wear-based smartwatches, T-Mobile has a couple of things to tell you. The magenta carrier has today announced that it will begin selling the round LG G Watch R on November 19, which is next Wednesday.

Six months after unveiling the Simband and SAMI – a wearable with a rich biometric sensor array and its supporting cloud platform – Samsung has unveiled the second generation of Simband. It’s based on the Gear S but will not be sold commercially – instead it’s a development platform that developers can pre-order today.
They can reconfigure the sensor array as needed and even develop their own sensors and algorithms to plug into the system. Samsung has made the Simband and SAMI an open platform to draw in partners and developers. Read more »

The Gear S is Samsung’s latest smartwatch running on the Tizen platform. The Samsung Gear S, a Tizen-powered smartwatch with its own voice and data connection, launched about a week ago in its home country of South Korea and apparently passed 10,000 sales on Day 1. The 3G-enabled smartwatch went on sale on November 5 through local carriers SK Telecom and KT.

Following its arrival in the Google Play Store for the US, the LG G Watch R is now officially up for grabs in the UK too. This has been quite a long time coming, as initial reports pegged its release date in Britain as being October 24.

It’s been a while since Asus unveiled its first smartwatch powered by Android Wear, the ZenWatch. Around two months, in fact. Fret not, though, for the Taiwanese company is finally set to release the wearable in the US at the end of this week.
