Lenovo has chimed in on the MWC 2015 horizon with the launch of a slate trio – meet the Android-running Tab 2 A10-70, Tab 2 A8 and Windows-booting Ideapad MIIX 300.

The Lenovo Tab 2 A10 packs a 10.1″ IPS display of 1080p resolution and under the hood features a MediaTek chipset with a 64-bit quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. Lenovo says its 7,200mAh battery can last up to 10 hours of non-stop usage. It’s quite sleek, too, with a weight of 509 grams and 8.9mm thick frame. Read more »

Samsung introduced a new version of the Oculus-powered Gear VR Innovator Edition headset. The new Gear VR is compatible with the newly announced Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge and is 15% smaller.

The Galaxy VR Innovator Edition with Oculus technology is already available for purchase globally for $199. The headset is compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet, but Samsung and Oculus will be launching a Galaxy S6-compatible edition as well. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge were announced today in Barcelona. They both feature a new mobile service for payments called Samsung Pay and yes, you’ve guessed it right, is a competitor to Apple Pay.

Samsung Pay works with NFC and a newly developed technology called MST – Magnetic Secure Transmission. The MST will allow the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge owners to use their phones on most of the existing terminals and merchants won’t need to upgrade their payment solution. Read more »

The HTC One M9 is finally official and we’re experiencing a déjà vu. Didn’t the HTC One (M8) look exactly the same? Alright, they are not quite the same, but you have to look very, very closely to see the subtle differences. Still, here’s a direct comparison, which should give you a perspective on whether the new stuff under the hood is enough of a reason for you to upgrade.

HTC has been promising a wearable for years now, but this year it delivered. The HTC Grip is a smart band with a built-in GPS, built in a collaboration with Under Armour. The company made it clear this isn’t for casual tarining, the Grip is aimed at fitness enthusiast and pro athletes.

Being a serious tool, it focuses on standalone performance rather than its interactions with a smartphone (it’s compatible with Android 4.3+ and iOS 7+). Read more »

Two promo videos of the Huawei Watch have leaked revealing the smartwatch’s personality in a bit more detail. A couple of days ago, we saw the watch for the first time in an ad banner at the Barcelona airport.

One of the videos tells the story behind the watch’s design and the materials Huawei has used to make it. On top of its perfectly circular display, the Huawei watch sports sapphire glass for protection. The diameter of the screen is 42mm, which the company says is the best size for a luxury watch, which fits both men and women. Read more »

Mozilla is rolling out an update for the Android version of Firefox on the Play Store. This update brings with it a new tablet interface and HTTP/2 support.

Firefox now has a revamped tab layout on top that looks just like the tab design on the desktop version of Firefox. There is also now a fullscreen tab panel, which shows a grid of open tabs with thumbnails for a better view of your open sites. Read more »

Well, the cat’s out of the bag now. Huawei has been teasing a smartwatch for a couple of weeks or so, but today we get to see exactly what it will look like. This is thanks to the fact that Huawei already has ads for the watch at Barcelona airport, waiting to welcome people attending MWC we assume.

Since the Android Wear logo is present in the bottom right corner of the ad, it’s clear which platform the Huawei Watch will run. As you can see, this is another round contender in the smartwatch space, and judging from this image alone it seems to be one of the best looking wearables revealed so far. Read more »

Alcatel has announced it’s going to hold a press conference at the Mobile World Congress this year. Scheduled for Sunday, March 1, the event should see a yet unknown number of phones announced.

The company has been quite mysterious lately and has managed to keep its upcoming line-up of devices under cover. Historically at the MWC, Alcatel has always announced smartphones covering all of the market tiers and we expect the same thing to happen this year, too. Read more »

The Swiss are famous for their watches, but have been very shy about smartwatches so far. Mondaine (makers of the iconic Swiss railway clocks), Frederique Constant and Alpina (an FC subsidiary) have all introduced smartwatches at Baselworld, a key watch and jewellery industry showcase event.

The Mondaine Helvetica No. 1 (with labels in the namesake font) is based on the regular watch model of the same name but sprinkles some smart functionality. Read more »

So far, Motorola’s Moto Maker service has allowed you to order a very personalized Moto X from the company. But next month it will become available for the Moto 360 smartwatch too.

You’ll get to choose a casing – either silver, black, or champagne gold. Then you pick a band size, from the two available. The band itself can be either metal or leather.
