The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is one of the several Galaxy S4 variations but is the one (so far) that stays the closest to the original specs of the S4 flagship. And just like other S4 variations it brings something new to the table, an IP67 certification in this case.
What that means is that the Sony Xperia Z is no longer the only 5″ 1080p flagship that is waterproof. Who would have thought there would be competition among phones that can play the latest 3D games in full glory and then shoot video under water? Read more »
When the Vine app eventually managed to waddle over to Android, it was a mere shadow of the iOS version, thanks to a buggy initial release and missing several features. Subsequent updates have made it bit more usable and now some more features have been brought over from the iOS version.
In the latest update, you now get the option to share your Vines on Facebook as well, whereas you could only do it over Twitter previously. It also adds the ability to search for users and hashtags, which was strangely missing in the previous version. Read more »

HTC has broken its bad streak with the HTC One and are looking to continue improving by stepping up marketing. How? By hiring Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., to promote HTC’s phones.
Bloomberg reports that RDJ won’t be playing any of his famous characters, he will be himself, which is just as awesome (though admittedly Iron Man and the metal-clad HTC One would have gone well together). Read more »
NVIDIA has announced that it will be selling the SHIELD for $299, starting June 27. The device first went on pre-order back in May but it seems the $349 price tag didn’t sit too well with prospective buyers so now we have a price cut even before the launch of the device.
The NVIDIA SHIELD is a first of its kind device where it is a handheld gaming console running on Android. It’s also the first device to run on NVIDIA’s new Tegra 4 processor, which has 4+1 CPU cores clocked at 1.9GHz and a stonking 72 core GPU. Other specifications include a 5-inch, 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory with microSD card slot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, microHDMI out (supports up to 4K resolution) and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. In a bid to take down Twitter and Vine, Facebook and Instagram have added a new feature on the popular mobile social network: videos. Now along with being able to upload photos, Instagram will also let you upload short videos from your phone.
After updating to the latest v4.0 of the application on iOS and Android, you will notice that there is a new button in the viewfinder mode. Tapping it brings the video recording interface. This works similar to Vine, where you press and hold the record button to record the video. You can release it as many times you want during the fifteen second span you are allotted and the app stitches the moments into one clip. As with Vine, audio is recorded as well. Read more »
At their Premiere event in New York Samsung gave us a chance to briefly check out their just announced Galaxy NX camera. We hurried over to where the camera itself was exhibited along with many NX mount lenses.
The benefit of having a choice of interchangeable lenses is one of the crucial advantages that the Galaxy NX has over last year’s Galaxy Camera and this year’s Galaxy S4 Zoom.
The other, of course, is the large APS-C sensor with a 20.3MP effective resolution. Physically, that translates into a sensor that’s much bigger than the sensor in any smartphone. Read more »

The LiveMap motorbike helmet will use the visor for augmented reality and will display anything from turn-by-turn navigation, current the speed to nearby points of interest. It’ll support 4G LTE connectivity, too as well as a handful of sensors including G-sensor, gyroscope, digital compass for head movement tracking. Read more »
Popular mobile browser Dolphin has reached the v10 mark and brings with it some new features to make it even better. The first among the changes is a new user interface. Dolphin 10 has a flat new UI that is more in tune with the times and at the same time retains the basic architecture of the previous versions. Unfortunately, this means it’s still not quite Holo and features a rather massive additional menu at the bottom of the screen.
Another change is the presence of a new web app store. This is similar to the web store on the desktop version of the Chrome. These are web apps, which in most cases equates to bookmarks, that install on your browser’s homescreen and let you quickly access those sites. Read more »
