Treatment centers for airborne diseases such as Ebola are no joke. Everything is locked down and the doctors and scientists working on the patients have to wear special suits and there is a strict control of objects getting in and leaving the center.

As such, it is difficult to communicate with people outside the center. One such center in Magburaka, Sierra Leone had a problem, where the doctors had to shout off information from a piece of paper and then destroy the paper. The God of War franchise is having it’s tenth anniversary and Sony is celebrating it with the God of War III Remaster announcement for the PlayStation 4.

Fans of the series will be able to relive (or live) the third major installment in the series on their new PlayStation 4 in glorious 1080p. Along with updated graphics, the remaster also brings with it the photo-mode, that lets you freeze the game and adjust the camera angle and add filters to create photos, which you can then share online. Amazon is one of those instantly recognizable online vendors that are constantly trying its hand at new services and consumer markets. Besides goods and books, both digital ant traditional, for which the store is best known, Amazon probably has the most diverse catalog from all the major online stores, including movies, music and also Android apps.

It is undoubtedly hard to achieve popularity as an app store under Google’s own mobile OS, which, has its own proprietary shop and is not too keen on sharing sales profits. As most of you surely remember, last week Apple held its “Spring Forward”, which was buzzing with announcements. But amidst all the hype about the Apple Watch, which was undoubtedly the star of the show, a lot of you might have missed the news about the Apple TV, or at least not given it too much thought.

What Apple did was slash the price of the TV box from $99 to $69 and introduce the new HBO Now streaming service. A lot of people have speculated that this might be a precursor to an impending new Apple TV announcement and today a new rumor fuels speculations even further. Google updated the Play Services quietly to add a couple of new security options. Smart Lock got new Trusted Places along with the existing Trusted Faces. To take the Smart Lock further, Google is now rolling out an “on-body detection” feature in the Smart Lock mode.

The idea is to let your phone detect its proximity to you in order to save itself and your data from being stolen. The new on-body protection feature uses the accelerometer to estimate whether you’re holding the device or it is in your pocket. Read more »

Vivo is one of those small Chinese manufacturers that rarely make headlines, but when they do, it’s usually big. The company definitely deserves credit, as it is generally quite open to experimentation and has always employed a premium quality approach to their tech.

Google has recently updated its availability support page, and there are five new names eligible for the tech giant’s own digital book store – Google Play Books. The list now includes Bulgaria, Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia and Slovakia, which should now be able to access the service.

Play Books hosts both paid and free digital copies and has a formidable database, which, of course, is not really surprising, considering all the effort Google has been putting into digitizing content in recent years. A new company called Vector is aiming for the middle ground by launching two models that promise 30 days battery life without sacrificing too many features.

Xiaomi has officially announced its plans to reveal two new Mi TV models on March 24. The Chinese company is set to launch a more affordable and compact 1080p TV as well as a larger variant of the Mi TV 2 with 4K resolution.

Google has finally released the Android Auto app that will let you use Android Auto in your car. The head units with Android Auto started shipping in the US a while ago but couldn’t be used because there was no app on the phone to interface with them, but that shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

Android Auto is Google’s take on integrating smartphone functionality into your car’s entertainment system. It allows you to not just make and receive calls, which you can already even with some of the basic head units, but also voice to set reminders, use navigation, play music, listen to messages. and a lot more. Apple has something similar for iOS devices in the form of CarPlay. Read more »
