The Surface tablet pre-orders has started a fire in the US and as a result Microsoft has already sold out all its US stock of the base 32GB model (without Touch Cover). If you pre-order this version now it will only be delievered to you in three weeks, while the other two available models are still scheduled to arrive on October 26.
The 32GB flavor of the Google Nexus 7 tablet has been spotted yet again, this time on a store’s brochure. Just as before, the 32GB model is said to cost as much as the 16GB Nexus 7 currently, further solidifying the rumors of it being replaced.

It’s been about a year since the GoPro HD Hero2 came out and it’s time for it to retire – the new model, Hero3, is smaller, lighter and faster. It comes in three different editions called White, Silver and Black.
All three editions come with Wi-Fi built-in (so you don’t need a the Wi-Fi BacPack) and are compatible with the Wi-Fi Remote (which is included in the Black edition package).
The top of the line model is the Hero3 Black, which has a 12MP sensor and can shoot up to 4K video. There are two versions of 4K – 3840×2160 (TV’s Ultra High Definition) that can be recorded at 15fps and 4096×2160 (a movie-making standard) at 12fps. Read more »
Dropbox has announced a new program called the Space Race meant for school and university students where you can earn up to 25GB for yourself and your schoolmates while competing against other schools in the program.
To be part of this program, you have to be from one of the eligible educational institutions and have their official email address. Once you create an account with this ID, you automatically get 3GB of space by default for two years. If you already have an account or want to register with some other email address you can but you still have to confirm your school ID with them. Read more »
Apple just started spreading their invitations to their previously rumored event on October 23. The invite tagline is “We’ve got a little more to show you” and the word little may be used quite literally, as Apple is supposed to unveil the iPad mini at this event.

A slip-up at the Microsoft online store has finally lead to the unveiling of the Surface tablet’s pricing. Scheduled to hit store on October 26, the pricing of the Microsoft Surface starts from $500 without the cool Black Touch Cover with keyboard. However, chances are that you’ll want the cool accessory, which basically transforms the Surface into a fully-fledged notebook replacement. In that case, you’ll need to shell out $600. Both prices apply for the 32GB version of the slate.

Reportedly, the notification area is about to get a complete overhaul in the upcoming Android 4.2 update. A recent video shows a two separate pull-down bars – the first one to hold all of your notifications and the second – the entire quick settings/toggles gang.
The Jelly Bean update didn’t bring quick toggles in the notification area as expected, but most of the manufacturers offer them within their custom UI launchers (TouchWiz, Sense, etc.). Read more »
