Xiaomi has definitely been on the rise in 2014. The Chinese company is firmly grounding its reputation as a trusted manufacturer of quality devices with a very good value to price tag ratio. But besides recent bestsellers in the smartphone market, like the Redmi 1S and the Xiaomi Mi3, the tech giant also offers a wide range of other consumer devices, like TVs, Media players and headphones and is constantly branching into new markets with offers like the Mi Air Purifier.
New rumors have now surfaced, stating that Xiaomi may be expanding into the PC market with its first ever laptop. Speculations about such a move have been circulating for the past few months but it is only now that we are seeing some more-convincing evidence in the form of photos and possible specs. Apple iTunes is the latest outlet that offers the controversial movie ‘The Interview’ for rent or purchase. Cupertino is asking $5.99 for a 24-hour rental of the flick or $14.99 to own it.
One of the key features that the Denim update brought to Nokia Lumia 1520 is 4K video capture @ 24fps. The goodie is also available for Nokia Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon.

The past few years have been terrific for mobile gaming. The improvements in hardware has resulted in developers pushing harder with what they can come up with. It has also resulted in a lot of console and PC games being ported over, as it is now possible to do so without losing much in the process.
2014 was a great year for mobile games, with a lot of new games and ports appearing on both the major mobile platforms. We went through a ton of them in the course of a year with our reviews and although some of them were quite disappointing, most were excellent, which is why it was such a hard task to choose the top ten best games of the year, and even more difficult was to arrange them in an order.

,The year 2014 is almost done but Meizu isn’t done quite yet. After unleashing their yearly flagship device, the Meizu MX4, the maker has put forth a bigger and badder smartphone in the face of the Meizu MX4 Pro.
The Meizu MX4 Pro earns its Pro moniker with a slightly bigger display – 5.5″ over 5.36″, a much higher screen resolution and pixel density –
1536 x 2560px and 546ppi. That’s a solid 128ppi increase over its predecessor.

A couple of days back, Bharti Airtel suddenly changed its stance on VoIP calls made on its 2G and 3G network in India. From including it as part of the customer’s existing data plan, the company announced that VoIP calls will be charged separately.
The company has now announced a dedicated data plan for VoIP calls. For INR 75 ($1.18) you get 75MB, which can turn out to be pretty expensive if you do a lot of VoIP calls over 3G connection. Not to mention, this is in addition to the standard data plan you will need for everything else. Read more »
Some residents of Minneapolis, Minnesota will soon have access to superfast Internet, thanks to US Internet, which has recently announced that it will offer a mind-boggling 10Gbps broadband speed to both residential and small-business owners in the city. Just to give you an idea, this is 10 times the speed of Google Fiber, which is currently available in Kansas City; Provo, Utah; and Austin, Texas.
“The launch of our 10 Gbps Internet service will make Minneapolis the first city in the world to receive access to the Internet at speeds never before experienced in our country, or any other country for that matter,” U.S. Internet CEO Joe Caldwell said in a statement. The HTC Gallery app received an update in time for Christmas in the Google Play Store. The major change in the latest version is the addition of Cloud Gallery – HTC’s take on accessing your photos from different cloud services like Facebook, Dropbox, Flickr and Google Drive.
The gallery app now sports HTC’s Face Fusion photo editor, which came as part of the Eye Experience update. It allows you to have fun with portraits by blending two at a time and create an entirely new face. Tagging friends on different images is now also available. Read more »
According to a report in DigiTimes, Sony has a high-end 12.9” tablet in the works. The full-size slate is expected to launch in the first half of 2015.

Nowadays the pre-roll ad model is widely used with video content. Just think how many times you’ve had to sit through an ad before a YouTube clip started playing for you (unless, of course, you’ve subscribed to YouTube Music Key, which makes the ads go away). Facebook, however, has another idea that it’s started testing.
These are ads that play after you’ve watched a video, and not before. At first blush, this might seem like a very counterintuitive idea, since many claim that pre-roll ads work exactly because you have no choice but to sit through them until the video you want to see starts. Read more »
With all the controversy surrounding ‘The Interview’, there was bound to be a lot of interest among the people to see just what all the fuss is about.
Although Sony Pictures had initially cancelled the screening after the movie received threats from the North Korean government, the movie was eventually slated for release in some of the theaters in the US, along with a simultaneous online release on YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox Live.
