Most mobile games are either available on both iOS as well as Android or are iOS exclusive. But turns out, there are a few games exclusive to Android as well.
One such game is Puddle THD. In fact, this game is so exclusive, that it only works on the devices running on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 hardware. We decided to take a look and see if it is worth five bucks. Read more »
The new Motorola RAZR family has a long distance runner in its family – the RAZR MAXX. The phone isn’t new and we’ve already reviewed the CDMA version for Verizon and the GSM version of the regular RAZR, but Motorola pushed out the ICS update about a month ago, so we thought we should put it through our review routine.
The Verizon version has been our battery test champ for quite a while now and no phone seems like it can dethrone it. We will, of course, do a battery test on this one too, just to check if there are any differences, but that will come later. Read more »
There are not a lot of games on the App Store that can fall under the ‘interactive comedy’ category. In fact, I’m pretty sure The Act is the only one of its kind right now.
The Act was originally launched as an arcade game back in 2007 but was later cancelled. It was then ported over to iOS and published by Chillingo Ltd. The game has been available on the App Store for a while now for $2.99 but is being sold for a dollar for a limited time, so we thought we should give it a try and see how this new method of gameplay is. Google’s Nexus 7 is a milestone in Android’s development, so we were all over it when it came to our office. The Nexus lineup lays down the development direction for Android gadgets in general and Jelly Bean that debuted on this tab is quite interesting indeed. Unlike some previous Nexus gadgets, the Nexus 7 will probably gain a lot of traction with consumers making it even more important.
The Nexus 7 packs a Tegra 3 chipset, a 7″ LCD screen with WXGA resolution and a highly competitive price. Read more »
The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos S6802 is part of Samsung’s growing dual-SIM Android lineup. The hardware inside the phone is mostly the same as in the original Ace, save for the second SIM slot, of course.
We don’t have many dual-SIM phones in our battery test database, so we’ll be testing the Ace Duos using only one SIM to make its results comparable. Read more »
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 got off to a rocky start after its official announcement at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year, after which it returned to the company’s R&D drawing board for a specs overhaul.
And several months later, here it is – the brand new Galaxy Note 10.1 with more powerful innards ready to take over the tablet scene. Or so it thinks. Read more »
‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ is an iOS and Android game that’s based roughly on the events in the 2012 movie of the same name. This version of the game came out around the same time as the PC and console version, but has different story and missions and has been developed by Gameloft instead of Activision.
Although this game has been available for a while now, it often appears in the top charts on both the App Store as well as the Google Play store. So we decided to give it a try and see just how amazing ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ really is. Read more »
The original Fieldrunners that came out almost four years ago was probably the first tower defense game on iOS. It was also a very good game, which is why even after all these years it remains one of the best games in the genre on the platform. And lots of other titles tried to steal that crown.
Now, developer Subatomic Studios has released a sequel that promises to be even more fun – Fieldrunners 2. Read on to find out how good it is. Read more »
The Asphalt series of games are widely regarded as the best arcade racing games on mobile. They are often compared to the Need for Speed series on the consoles, which is a good thing as it is one of the best and most popular series of arcade racing games on any platform.
The latest iteration in the Asphalt series is Asphalt 7: Heat. The first time we got a glimpse of this game was in the promotional material for the Samsung Galaxy S III, although the game itself arrived on iOS first, as they usually do, and it’s only now after almost a months has it made an appearance on Android. We are no strangers to seeing movie tie-in games that come out shortly after the release of a big budget movie. But recently, these games have started appearing on mobile devices as well. We saw Temple Run: Brave, The Amazing Spider-man and now The Dark Knight Rises, releasing just weeks apart from each other.
Today we will be taking a look at The Dark Knight Rises, a game based on arguably the best movie that has come out this year so far. The movie had raised everyone’s expectations sky high and managed to meet and exceed most of them. On the contrary, no one is expecting anything from the Batman game and with the history of movie tie-in games it would be a surprise if it is any good. We decided to find out if that is the case. The Samsung I8530 Galaxy Beam is a fairly unique device with its built-in pico-projector. Samsung has put a big 2000mAh battery inside the smartphone, which is almost as big as the one on the Galaxy S III, and given that there’s only a dual-core processor and a smaller 4″ LCD to feed we expected it to fare quite well in our test.
We put the Galaxy Beam through our usual battery testing procedures and we are now ready to share our findings with you. Read more »
The Sony Xperia go is here and is ready to get the GSMArena review treatment. The rugged droid will be eyed by many as it seems like one of the best smartphones you can take to the beach with you.
The Xperia go is descendant of the Xperia Active, a tough little droid, which we met (and loved) at the end of last year. The new smartphone fixes two of the main shortcomings of its predecessor by offering a larger 3.5″ LCD at the front and a beefier dual-core processor under the hood, so it’s certainly an interesting package. The Meizu MX 4-core is a revamped version of the ambitions MX smartphone, which challenged both the iPhone and its Android kin alike with a heavily customized OS. The MX 4-core, as the name suggests, uses a quad-core Exynos chipset from Samsung (like the one in the Galaxy S III) and also has a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor – 1700mAh vs. 1600mAh.
What other changes has Meizu done under the hood to improve battery life? The Chinese haven’t gone into specifics, but we saw improvement across the board. Read more »
Here at GSMArena, phones and tablets are our bread and butter, but our love for tech is by no means limited to them. So imagine our excitement when we got the opportunity to test a gadget which reads your thoughts and allows you to do cool things with it on your computer.
The gadget in question is called EPOC and is made by Emotiv. It’s a futuristic looking headset, which reads your brain activity via the scalp of your head and translates it into various actions. With that in mind, I was particularly excited with Professor Xavier and his powerful telepathic powers immediately popping into my head. Sadly, this isn’t the case… yet. Read more »
Meizu MX 4-core is company’s second phone we have the pleasure to review. It looks exactly like the dual-core Meizu MX, but adds two additional Cortex-A9 CPU cores and a more powerful GPU to bump the performance.
The Meizu MX 4-core runs on the so-called Flyme OS 1.0 which is based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The customizations run a lot deeper than any other UI we’ve seen, but they cut off features instead of adding new. Read more »
