Dropbox has updated its official Windows Phone app to version 1.1. The update brings along the ability to create and manage Shared Folders within the app, as well as some bug fixes.
The update is relatively minor, although the ability to manage Shared Folders, which are ideal for groups of people who would like to collaborate on the same files together, is definitely useful.
According to a USA Today report, YouTube is launching a new app for kids. Appropriately dubbed YouTube Kids, the free app will initially be available for Android devices only, and will be released on February 23.
As one would expect, the app contains kids-friendly interface with big, bulbous icons and minimal scrolling. Its home screen features eight large tiles, each focusing on a popular kid-friendly video series, as well as five icons at the top that’ll take kids to TV shows, music, educational programming, and top-ranking videos.
Uber has announced that it’s launching an on-demand food-delivery service in the Spanish city of Barcelona. Dubbed UberEATS, the service will get you the best meals from the best local restaurants in under 10 minutes, the company claims.
The announcement marks the first time that the San Francisco-based company has launched a meal delivery service outside of its home country – the service is already available in Los Angeles, but under the name UberFRESH.
It looks like Pebble is about to launch a new smartwatch next week. The manufacturer of the original Pebble and the Pebble Steel has updated its homepage with a countdown timer, which is set to expire in a tad less than five days.

Google has significantly expanded the reach of Inbox by Gmail, its experimental email app. From its launch point and up until now it was only usable on iPhones, Android smartphones, and on the Web in Chrome. But starting today, it’s made its way to many more places.
For starters, you can now use Inbox by Gmail on your iPad or Android tablet. Additionally, if you want to access the inbox.google.com interface from a Web browser, you get two more options.
Ubuntu started off with big promises for phones – a true phone and desktop hybrid OS. Those lofty goals didn’t pan out and the first Ubuntu phone launched with a more traditional phone OS. The firmware for the BQ Aquaris E4.5 is now available for download.

Last week, after it was discovered that Samsung’s smart TVs are potentially listening to everything that users say and sharing the collected information, a company spokesperson said, “In all of our Smart TVs we employ industry-standard security safeguards and practices, including data encryption, to secure consumers’ personal information and prevent unauthorized collection or use.” However, apparently that’s not correct, as it has now been discovered that the voice data these TVs send over the internet is not encrypted.
Update: Samsung is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. The company says that new models include encryption, while older devices will get it as an update.
The criticism from Apple’s chief designer Jony Ive towards Motorola’s Moto Maker in a recent New Yorker magazine profile, saying “that’s abdicating your responsibility as a designer,” prompted a high-level response from the Lenovo subsidiary. Rick Osterloh, the CEO of Motorola has hit back at the Cupertino-based company, describing iPhone prices as “outrageous.”
“We do see a real dichotomy in this marketplace, where you’ve got people like Apple making so much money and charging such outrageous prices. We think that’s not the future,” Motorola president Rick Osterloh said.
The UK e-retailer Expansys has started accepting pre-orders for both gold and silver versions of the LG Watch Urbane. The posh smartwatch is priced at £299.99 (around $465).
At that price point, the Watch Urbane becomes the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch in the market, though it’s worth keeping in mind that this is not its official price.
Motorola treated the Moto 360 smartwatch to a minor firmware update. The latter bumps up the Android Wear version of the best selling Android Wear device to 5.0.2 and has a build number LWX49L.
The changelog if the update is unsurprisingly quite small.
A 4K slate with the freshly announced NVIDIA Tegra X1 chipset scored a whopping 74,977 points on AnTuTu. The score is the highest we’ve seen on the popular benchmark to date – the currently available top-tier mobile devices hover around the 50,000 mark.
NVIDIA Tegra X1 features octa-core CPU cluster, consisting of four Cortex A57 and four Cortex A53 cores with a custom CPU interconnect and cluster migration. On the GPU side, NVIDIA has turned to using its latest generation Maxwell architecture in a GPU with 256 CUDA cores.
Samsung is gradually updating its flagship smartphones to Lollipop, with the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 so far receiving the OTA in various parts of the world. Tablet users may have felt left out so far, but an update is in the works, at least for the high-end Galaxy Tab S 8.4.
According to SamMobile, Lollipop for the flagship compact tablet is to be expected in either March or April.
Samsung has created the first memory chip based on the new eMMC 5.1 standard and is getting ready to ship it to smartphone and tablet manufacturers. The new chips come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities and offer better speed and other enhancements over the older standard.
The eMMC 5.1 chips support “Secure Write Protection,” which allows only select users to access secure areas of the storage. Another extra is the command queue that promises to improve multitasking and UHD video playback.
