Google announced an update to Android Wear, that brings with it many new features, such as a new launcher for apps, always on apps, wrist gestures, and ability to draw emoji, but there are a couple of other features that Google missed out on.
In its blog post for SmartWatch 3, Sony mentioned couple of other features that will be available with the upcoming update. One of them is popup notifications, which means you will get notified even when you are in some other app on your watch. The other is adjustable font sizes. Twitter has made changes to its direct message (DM) feature, allowing you to receive private messages from other users, even if you don’t follow them. The feature is available in the form of a new setting, which is turned off by default.
“Previously, if you wanted to send a Direct Message to the ice cream shop down the street about how much you love their salted caramel flavor, you’d have to ask them to follow you first,” the microblogging company said in a blog post. “With today’s changes, the ice cream shop can opt to receive Direct Messages from anyone; so you can privately send your appreciation for the salted caramel without any barriers.” Read more »
Google has announced that YouTube apps running on select devices manufactured in 2012 and earlier will no longer be supported after this month. These devices include Sony TVs & Blu-ray Discs, Panasonic TVs & Blu-ray Discs, older iOS devices, and devices running older versions of Google TV.
“As we upgrade the YouTube Data API to bring more features, we’ll begin shutting down the old version on April 20, 2015. This will result in the current YouTube app not working on certain device models from 2012 and older,” the Mountain View, California-based company said in a blog post. Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system will launch in July this year, according to AMD president and CEO Lisa Su, who revealed the detail while answering a question related to inventory plans during the company’s latest earnings call last week.
“With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up,” Su had said. Read more »
Samsung has launched its personal health management app – S Health – on Google Play, a move that will allow you of the app to keep it up-to-date without waiting for software upgrades.

Microsoft is working on an updated Maps app for Windows 10 and thanks to the Universal App platform, the same app that has been running on Windows 10 Technical Preview for desktops is now available for Insiders testing the phone build of the upcoming OS.
The app is designed to work with both mouse and keyboard as well as touchscreens. This includes pinch zooming and two finger map rotation, both familiar gestures. Read more »
Facebook has announced that it will be retiring its Like Box plugin in June this year. “With the release of Graph API v2.3, the Like Box plugin is deprecated and will stop working on June 23rd 2015,” the company said in a post on its page for developers
