Just a few hours ago, Xiaomi announced its brand new handset – the Mi 4i. Most of us expected it to be a more-affordable version of the Mi 4 and thus, not exactly a big deal, but the impressive device seems to have no intention of sitting in its sibling’s shadow and looks to be destined for an impressive career of its own.

With the Mi 4i Xiaomi has managed to really push the limits as to what is possible on a $200 budget. Naturally, the device is a mid-range offer, but it does pack an impressive amount of power and last-get technology. The Lumia 640 isn’t yet officially available in the US, but now you can grab one as e-tailer Expansys has started selling the mid-range device (with dual-SIM support and LTE connectivity) in the country. It is available in cyan, black, and orange color options

As for the price, the black color variant is priced at $220, while the orange and cyan models will set you back $245. An important thing worth noting is that you need to check the supported LTE bands to make sure that the device supports your carrier. Read more »

The LG G4 is coming and in a mere week – on April 28 we should finally see what the Korean giant has prepared to take on the Galaxy S6, S6 edge and the HTC One M9. Although, frankly, LG has left little to the imagination.

Leaks have been so plentiful, that we already know almost everything about the G4, although LG did throw a major “curve ball” with word of a curved screen, and yet, we can’t seem to stop talking about it. This alone should vogue well for the upcoming flagship and its merits. Read more »

Facebook’s Internet.org initiative, which aims to bring affordable Internet to the 5 billion people in the world who otherwise can’t access it, has already benefited 800 million people in nine countries, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

“We’ve now made free basic Internet services available to more than 800 million people in nine countries, including just in this quarter, launching in India, Colombia, Ghana, Guatemala, and the Philippines,” Zuckerberg revealed during the company’s Q1 earnings call, adding that over 7 million people, who weren’t connected to the Internet before, now get online using Internet.org. “And this year, we expect to connect even more people,” he said. The Xiaomi Mi 4i was just unveiled in India and while on stage gave a quick glimpse at its performance. The phone drops the Snapdragon 801 chipset of the Mi 4 and goes for Snapdragon 615. Hugo Barra said it’s the second generation 615 chipset where the processor works at higher frequencies – there are eight Cortex-A53 cores in total, four of which work at 1.7GHz (up from 1.5GHz) and the other four at 1.1GHz (up from 1GHz). There’s also 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU.

Warner Bros. Interactive has kept its promise to bring the Mortal Kombat X for mobile devices. Now the visceral fighting game is made available for the Android 4.0 or higher devices with freemium model.

The NetherRealm Studios developed Mortal Kombat X was already available for the iOS platform so now both major platforms are covered. For mobile devices, the game includes the usual brutal fights along with card-collecting to unlock special features. Read more »

LG will start selling the Watch Urbane this week in South Korea and will make it available in 13 different countries through the Google Store. Those 13 markets include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, UK and the United States.

Facebook Home may not have been a success at all, but the social network isn’t ready to give up on the idea of replacing built-in functionality on Android with its own apps. Case in point – today Facebook has launched a new app called Hello. This is basically an alternative dialer app for Android, and it’s already up for grabs in the Google Play Store (though it seems to be geo-restricted, so you may not be able to download it depending on where you are).

Hello combines a dialer with an interface for viewing contacts, along with easy call blocking and seamless search for people and places. The search part feels especially well tailored for queries relating to businesses. You just need to type a few letters of the name, and if that business has a Facebook page you’ll then be able to call it with one tap (if it has a phone number listed on Facebook itself, of course). Researchers at Skycure have revealed a zero-day security flaw, which when exploited, can allow attackers to repeatedly crash Apple devices running iOS 8. Dubbed No iOS Zone, the vulnerability just requires the device to be within range of a WiFi hotspot, whether connected or not.

The exploit works by manipulating SSL certificates sent to the iOS devices over Wi-Fi, causing apps or possibly the OS itself to crash, making the device unstable and triggering constant reboots. This would effectively render the device useless, something which could wreak havoc at sensitive locations like financial hubs. Read more »
