We have seen the 5.0 version of Gmail app for Android a while back. The app has already been included in Android Lollipop update but those of us who are still on KitKat and older versions of Android can now get the 5.0 update, albeit through a leaked APK.

BlackBerry’s Messenger app has received an update today, which brings with it two new features. Timed Messages allows you to set a timer when sending a message. When that expires, the message you sent will disappear from the BBM chat.
With Message Retraction, you can ‘take back’ something you sent – after the fact. The message disappears from the chat for the person you sent it to as soon as you retract it.
Now that all three major mobile platforms have their own personal assistants, we’re all wondering how well each of them performs at different tasks. The latest study doesn’t look good for Cortana, Microsoft’s attempt in this space.

Google Wallet has been updated with several nice features. One of them is the option to set up a recurring bank transfer to automatically add funds to your Wallet account.
You can set up the recurring bank transfer on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and cancel it any time. Google says that there are no fees or minimum balance requirements for the automatic transfer. If your balance gets low, you can set an alert to remind you to add funds.
IDC has outed a tablet market report for Q3 2014 and it’s good news for manufacturers as the market has soared 11.5% compared for the same period last year. Global tablet shipments reached 53.8 million as competitive back-to-school promotions and strong interest in the US have driven shipments upwards.
IDC notes that Verizon’s winning tablet strategy is to sell LTE-enabled slates, which in the US are sought after. The upcoming Black Friday sales are also anticipated to result in even larger tablet sales. In the US the market growth is a bit stronger compared to the global one and has gone 18.5% year-over-year.

LG Display has made a 5.3″ LCD panel with a bezel of just 0.7mm. The display of 1080p resolution sports a pixel density of 415ppi.
To put it into perspective, the left and right sides of the panel are thinner than the 0.8mm thickness of a credit card. In order to pull this off, the company uses its “Neo Edge” module processing technology as well as the first “Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT)” technology.

The freshly leaked Microsoft Band is now official and will work with iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices. Redmond’s wearable device is made for the right hand, packs ten sensors, and will cost $199 when it hits the shelves on October 30 online and in Microsoft stores in the United States.
Microsoft Band’s sensors allow it to measure heart rate, stress levels, and UV exposure among others.
