The top of the Asha line, the Nokia Asha 303, walked into our office to tell us about its 1GHz processor. We asked it about multitasking, but it quickly changed the subject by yelling “I have Angry Birds!”.

The 303 has several things that elevate it above the majority of other feature phones – from the fast processor, through a capacitive touchscreen and QWERTY to Wi-Fi connectivity and 3G with HSDPA. Read more »

Meizu MX takes us on a heavily modified Android journey, we can’t shake off the iPhone feeling [VIDEO]

by 56 comments

One of the most unusual smartphones that you have seen just landed in our office – the Meizu MX. At its core, it’s an Android phone, but it takes a lot of design cues from the iPhone. What’s unique about it is that it’s from a Chinese company – a lot of companies have their gadgets assembled in China, but this one was also designed there.

China has all the potential to become a tech powerhouse – and the Meizu MX is probably just the first of many high-end gadgets that have an actual chance of dethroning the current top phones. Read more »

Sol Republic want a piece of the premium headphones market, we get curious [HANDS-ON]

by 27 comments

When I first heard of the recently founded headphone maker Sol Republic, my first thought was if there was any room left on the market for a new supplier of premium headphones. The U.S. market in particular is dominated by Beats Audio – the company with Dr. Dre as its face, followed by several competitors. In a nutshell – it is not the friendliest environment to launch a new product, given the already established competition.

Once I found out more about the newcomer however, its aspirations began to make a lot more sense. Sol Republic (by the way, Sol stands for “soundtrack of life”, not something related to the sun) is founded by Read more »

by 23 comments

The HTC Rhyme is now done running laps on our battery test tracks and we bet you are eager to find out how it did. After all, endurance is as important as it gets when you are talking about a droid that aims to win the hearts of the female users out there.

Coming with a 1600 mAh battery and a 3.7″ WVGA screen, the HTC Rhyme seems well prepared for our test. Sure it’s not the juiciest of batteries we have seen since we started the new test, but it’s got one of the smallest displays so far. Read more »

Nokia Lumia 800 battery test now over, see how it did [TEST]

by 89 comments

The Nokia Lumia 800 battery test just finished and we are rushing to bring you the results. Everyone with any degree of interest in Windows Phone certainly has the Finns’ flagship on their shortlist, so we figured plenty of people will be interested to see how it did.

Coming with a 1450 mAh battery and a WVGA 3.7″ screen, the Lumia 800 started this test in a slightly more favorable position than its Nokia N9 sibling. The MeeGo flagship features the same battery, but its screen is 0.2″ larger and has 54 pixels higher vertical resolution, so we’d expect the Lumia 800 to do better. Read more »

Flipboard for iPhone review – shrinking the magazine style the right way

by 19 comments

Flipboard is a digital magazine-like application that combines all of your Facebook, Twitter, website news, articles, photos and more into one live feed for simple (and gorgeous) browsing from one dedicated place. It used to be an iPad exclusive up until the other day when Flipboard launched a version for the iPhone too and we thought we’d take it for a spin and do a little impromptu review of it.

Once the app launched yesterday things went seriously wrong and Flipboard’s servers were overwhelmed by the incredible demand. Today Flipboard updated the app and things started working again. We’ve prepared screen shots for you guys and also a video demo of Flipboard for iPhone, join us after the break for the full scoop. Read more »

by 47 comments

The new Bada flagship, Samsung Wave 3 S8600, is the next smartphone that we made jump through the fiery circles of our battery test. As this was the first Wave to take on our new test, we were quite interested to see how it would fare.

Coming with a 4″ WVGA screen, a 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU and a 1500 mAh battery, you would expect the Wave 3 to be no better than average. However, much to our amazement, it turned out to be the second best performer we have seen. Read more »
