Disney offers nine of its games for free on Windows Phone till June 17

Disney is offering a bunch of its mobile games for free on Windows Phone for a limited amount of time. If you have a Windows Phone 8.1 device, you can download nine of the company’s titles at no cost till June 17.

The list includes Where’s My Water?, Where’s My Perry?, “Where’s My Water?” Featuring XYY, Where’s My Mickey?, Temple Run: Oz, Temple Run: Brave, Disney Solitaire, Lost Light, and Disney Checkout Challenge. Read more »

Angry Birds Fight! brings match-three gameplay spiced up with RPG

Farmers take note – Rovio has reached expert levels at milking things, pushing its Angry Birds cash cow into new territory. The new Angry Birds Fight! ditches the physics-based gameplay and switches to the “match three” mechanic popularized by the likes of Candy Crush Saga.

Twitter’s new feature allows you to share your block lists with others

In an effort to make Twitter a safer place, the company has introduced a new feature that allows users to share their block lists, effectively letting others block multiple accounts all at once.

“While many users find them [Mute and Block] useful, we also recognize that some users — those who experience high volumes of unwanted interactions on Twitter — need more sophisticated tools,” the company said in a blog post. “That’s where this new feature comes in.” Read more »

Leica announces Leica Q full-frame camera with fixed lens

Leica has announced the newest member of its rangefinder-style of cameras, the Leica Q. The camera comes with a full-frame sensor and a fixed lens matched to the sensor.

The Leica Q has a 24 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with a sensitivity of up to ISO 50,000. The sensor is matched to a fixed 28mm F 1.7 Summilux lens. The camera has an electronic viewfinder on the back with a resolution of 3.68 megapixel resolution. The viewfinder allows the photographer to select 35mm and 50mm focal lengths and save the photos with that focal length. Read more »

iOS 9 brings Continuity outside your Wi-Fi network

Continuity is undoubtedly on of Apple’s coolest features of late. For anyone not familiar with the technology, it lets you handle your calls and text messages on your Mac, iPad or Apple Watch. Up until now, however, this was only possible if the two devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

This is definitely cool, but kind of limiting. With iOS 9, Apple has extended the feature and your iPhone no longer needs to be connected to the same network as your other Apple tech for Continuity to work. In fact, your handset doesn’t even have to maintain a Wi-Fi connection, as the system now works over any stable data connection. Read more »

Xiaomi just unveiled a new Wi-Fi router and a smart bedside lamp

Xiaomi held a press conference in Beijing today at 14:00 local time. The trendy Chinese manufacturer had little to announce in terms of smartphone tech, except a new paint job for the Xiaomi Mi 4i, but the presentation still had a few interesting gadgets to show off.

First, there is the all new Mi Wi-Fi. It aims to build on the success of the original Mi router, which sold over two million units, not counting its later mini version. With the new generation, Xiaomi is upping the stakes. The unit promises faster and more-stable dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac support. It employs an “enterprise-class” PBC antenna array and a powerful Broadcom 4709C dual-core 1.4GHz processor and 512MB of flash storage. It also offers onboard storage, courtesy on Seagate or Toshiba surveillance. It can be used as a simple NAS or in tandem with Xiaomi’s proprietary tools for remote downloads, automatic backups, remote access to files and many more features, users have come to love from the current generation of Xiaomi smarty routers. Apple enables ad blockers in Safari for new iOS and Mac OS versions

Your favorite ad blocker may soon land in Safari – both the iOS 9 and the Mac OS X El Capitan versions. The new functionality allows apps to give Safari rules about blocking cookies, images, other resources, pop-ups and other content.

China’s Baidu to launch its first driverless car later this year

Less than a year after revealing that it is working on its own driver-less car, Chinese Internet search engine company Baidu has announced that the vehicle will be launched in the second half of the ongoing year.

The announcement was made by Baidu’s senior vice president Jin Wang at the China Cloud Computing conference. Wang also said that the company will work with a third-party car manufacturer, whose name wasn’t revealed. Read more »

Instagram web gets a redesign

Since the first time the website was introduced several years ago, Instagram has updated the design. The new design is extremely minimal, with a lot of white space and large, full-size images.

The new design gets rid of the grey textured background and the blue top bar, replacing it with a clean white everywhere. The top bar just has the Instagram logo, your account name and a logout button. Read more »

Facebook Messenger for Android now has over 1 billion downloads

Facebook Messenger for Android has entered into the exclusive 1 billion+ downloads club. The news was announced by David Marcus, who leads the company’s messaging business, in a Facebook post.

If you aren’t in the know, Messenger is the company’s third app to cross the milestone – the Facebook Android app did it last year, while WhatsApp did it this year. Also, Facebook and Google are the only two companies that have apps with more than 1 billion Google Play downloads – the latter’s Google Search, Maps, Gmail, and YouTube apps are part of the club.
