Now that Google has finally revealed that Lollipop is the name of its Android L release, you probably saw this coming. The new OS version has received its very own statue outside of Google’s HQ in California.
This is customary for all new Android iterations, and there are already a lot of sweet statues hanging out on Google’s lawn.
As you can see, the Lollipop statue is basically just the green Android robot mascot holding a giant lollipop. This marks a subtle change from previous statues, which all turned the robot itself into the specific confectionery item that any new Android version was named after.
The video above shows the unveiling of the new statue, as it happened earlier today. Android 5.0 Lollipop will be preinstalled on the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, and it will be out as a software update for the older Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (both generations), and Nexus 10 at some point in the near future. Obviously the new bits will then start to slowly make their way to other Android devices, with Motorola already announcing which of its wares will taste the new treat.
