Microsoft reportedly working on Cortana for iOS, Android

Microsoft has been fine tuning its digital assistant – Cortana for the Windows Phone platform to support more languages and regions. In the meantime, the software-giant is reportedly working to make Cortana available on Android and iOS platforms as well.

After impressing many on the Windows Phone platform, Microsoft is reportedly working on a project called Eistein to bring Cortana as a standalone app for the Apple iOS and Google Android platforms. Read more »

Foursquare adds private messaging to Swarm app

Evernote promises new app for Apple Watch

Apple Watch was announced last night o and people are still having trouble closing their jaws over the price tag of the limited editions. Apple showed the integration of several iOS apps with iOS 8.2 update on the Apple Watch and few obvious ones were missing.

Evernote took that opportunity and announced it’s releasing the Evernote app for Apple Watch in near future. The Evernote app for Apple Watch will complement the one on the iPhone in way that the user can dictate notes, set reminders, check off items from existing notes, and even check the recent content. Uber ceases UberX ride-sharing taxis in Seoul, South Korea

Private taxi service Uber has suspended its ride-sharing service – UberX in Seoul, South Korea. This call was made to favor the South Korea’s homegrown taxi-booking app set to arrive in coming months.

Government of South Korea has been working on a service to help its citizens take services of licensed operators and noted that Uber was running unregistered private taxis and rented vehicles, which was illegal under South Korean law. Read more »

NVIDIA unveils a SHEILD Android TV-based gaming console at GDC 2015

NVIDIA has introduced a new living room entertainment device – SHIELD gaming console at the Game Developers Conference 2015. The SHIELD gaming console boasts of being world’s first Android 4K TV and is powered NVIDIA’s own Tegra X1 mobile chipset. Priced at $199, NVIDIA SHIELD gaming console bundles the SHIELD Controller.

The SHIELD can act as a set-top box and a gaming console in one package – all thanks to the Tegra X1 mobile processor coupled with 256-bit Maxwell GPU and 3 GB RAM. Read more »

Samsung CEO clarifies the absence of Qualcomm Snapdragon chips in Galaxy S6, S6 Edge

Samsung CEO J. K. Shin impressed the audience by stating that engineering is his first language at the on-going Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. But the features and improvements of the new Exynos 7 series mobile chipset used in Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were barely talked about.

While the Exynos 7420 powers both new Galaxy models, the absence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 mobile chipset in any of the possible variants actually surprised many. Read more »

Google allows preinstalling Waze app on Android devices

While most handset makers are reducing the pre-installed ‘bloatware’ on the Android devices, Google has added the social traffic and navigation app – Waze in the basket of Google Mobile Services (GMS). Now handset makers will be able to pre-install the Waze app as part of the GMS bundle on the newly sold Android devices.

Waze provides smart navigation solution to its users thanks to the crowd-sourced data collected by those very users. The data includes traffic conditions, road obstacles, or even police traps and is seeded to users in real time through the app. Read more »
