by 65 comments

The Nokia Lumia 520 is the cheapest smartphone of the Lumia range in existence and Nokia dubs it as the “The more fun smartphone”. But for how long can the “fun” last? Our extensive battery test comes into play to answer this very question.

The Nokia Lumia 720 is the thinnest Lumia yet at 9mm, but it’s tied with the Lumia 920 for biggest battery in the lineup at 2,000mAh. The Qualcomm MSM8227 chipset is very efficient though as we already saw with the Lumia 620, which only had a 1,300mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S4 battery life tests are done, here’s how it did

by 213 comments

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is about the same size and weight as the Galaxy S III, except that the new model is slightly thinner. Even so, the battery capacity has increased by 500mAh to a nicely sounding 2,600mAh total.

Still, that battery has to feed four Krait 300 cores and a bigger screen with over twice the number of pixels. Let’s see how the 2013 flagship from Samsung compares to the one from 2012. Before we continue, we should make it clear that we’re using the I9505 for this test, that’s the Snapdragon 600 chipset and not the Exynos 5 Octa. Read more »

Sony Xperia Z battery test is ready, here come the scores

by 239 comments

Sony Xperia Z was announced back at CES in January and its popularity grows bigger by the day. We have already had the Sony Xperia Z for quite a while in our office and its in-depth review is over here but once the MWC wrapped up we were also able to complete its battery test.

The smartphone has a large 2330 mAh battery to rely on, but the quad-core Krait CPU and the 5″ 1080p display are known to consume quite a lot of power. The fact that the battery isn’t user-replaceable puts even more pressure on the Xperia Z to do well here, and we were as curious as you are to find out if that’s actually the case. Read more »

We put the Nokia Lumia 620 battery life under inspection, boasts class-leading call times

by 46 comments

We approached the Nokia Lumia 620 battery test with mixed feelings. Windows Phones had hardly topped our charts so far and the meager 1300mAh battery of the Lumia 620 didn’t bode well. Still, we had certain hopes for it as its screen is not that big and the dual-core CPU is clocked only at 1Ghz.

Battery tests are time-consuming affairs and we’ve had several of those piling up. The Lumia 620 review has been published for a while now, but it’s only now that we are able to publish its detailed battery performance test. Jump after the break to get the full account. Read more »
